Michael Vick Situation

Please click the links below and take part in the petition.

If you're a member of the HSUS you got this e-mail:

Tell the NFL to Suspend Michael Vick!

Dear Friend,

Late yesterday, a federal grand jury indicted NFL star quarterback Michael Vick and three cohorts on felony dogfighting charges. It’s the latest disturbing news in a case that The Humane Society of the United States has assisted with since the alleged cruelties came to light in Virginia last April.

I hope you will take action today to urge the NFL to suspend Michael Vick indefinitely.

The abuses described in the 19-page indictment are almost beyond belief:

In or about March of 2003, PEACE [one of Vick’s co-defendants], after consulting with VICK about the losing female pit bull's condition, executed the losing dog by wetting the dog down with water and electrocuting the animal.

In or about April 2007, PEACE, PHILLIPS, and VICK executed approximately 8 dogs that did not perform well in "testing" sessions...by various methods, including hanging, drowning, and slamming at least one dog's body to the ground."

The NFL expressed “disappointment” and said yesterday that “we believe that all concerned should allow the legal process to determine the facts.”

Well, that’s just not good enough. These acts were not petty or harmless; they were nothing short of gruesome and barbaric. And there is precedent for a suspension: Other NFL players, such as Pacman Jones and Chris Henry, have been suspended while they awaited trial and before they were convicted. Please contact the NFL today and urge the league to suspend Michael Vick.

For details about the case and The HSUS’s role in assisting federal prosecutors with the investigation and the care of 52 pit bulls taken from Vick’s property, click here. And if you are able, please make a special donation today to help us care for those animals while the case is being pursued by federal authorities.

Thank you for all you do for animals.

Sincerely,

Wayne Pacelle
President & CEO
The Humane Society of the United States

And to answer the pole - raped by Bubba daily for 20 years then dismembered with toe nail clippers. SCUMBAG.

I think they said worse case he ends up with 6 years and $350,000 in fines. Sure its a shame it happened, but its also a shame that innocent til proven guilty is meaningless.

if he is found guilty he should face the same penalties as any "normal" person. Who cares if he is in the NFL? Let there just be a fair system and if, when found guilty, there is jail time and Bubba raping then so be it. when he gets out if any team actually wants to sign him then have at it. the NFL is a sports organization and if what he does off the field doesn't directly interfere with his on field performance then they should look the other way and let the legal process work without any lobbying one way or another.

I may regret saying this, but just because we domesticated dogs and some people take them in as family members and others use them as a substitute for kids, they are animals the same as the veal I'm about to have for lunch.

We raise, kill and eat all types of animals to satisfy our own wants and pleasures, a lot of them just so we can relish in how good it taste, not the it may provide us with any extra life sustaining nutrients.

Or how about race horses? Greyhounds?

Note: I would never attend a dog fight.

Note: I am not the one vote for set him free let him play ball

After the horses/greyhounds lose though, they aren't electrocuted, hung and stabbed in the eyes with ice picks.

Just playing devil's advocate

look I treat my dog as a family member however just because I dont treat a horse or cow that way doesnt make it rational to do the things Vick and his buddies were up to - animals are animals but this is so wrong and sick it makes my blood boil...

Come on be reasonable - you really want to feel bad for him or his rights? as it is with all his money he'll have the best defense in the world... There is no way that POS didn't know what was going on at his home

PS. I dont like your comments nefarious, but god dammit i respect you!

What exactly is the difference between a domesticated animal and wild animal? Are you saying its OK to use these dogs for fights to the death for amusement never mind the electrocute or drowning ANY animal? For the record I am no fan of either horse racing and especially greyhound racing but once again where is the correlation between what the fucking low life was taking part in and it being Ok in any mind set?

veal huh...

And I respect you too Dennis.

Sure he will have the best defense money can buy, which raise yet another point.

We sensationalize him, pay him all this money to play a sport and put him in the public eye. These dog fights are going to have far worse (and not downplaying them here) effects then the death and mistreatment of the dogs in question. This will in turn tell his most die hard, less respectable and not exactly smartest worshipers that this kind of behavior is okay which will only lead to more tragedy.

I think regardless of the trial he should be at the very least suspended for a year but more so I would rather see him banned for life. Every single one of these athletes signs a clause in their contracts about conduct and this would definatley qualify against that.

I vote ban his ass and lock him and anybody else involved in a cage with the 52 dogs. Let them suffer the pain that the dogs did.

and yeah I love veal...

I agree the worst part of this is that there are some idiots wearing his jersey that will truly think this is cool...

and after this is all done - how long until he's back at it again - let's be honest this Vick is no road scholar...

Suspend him without pay from the NFL until the legal process is complete.

If he is acquitted then let him play again.

Basically all animals fall below us on the food chain; it has nothing at all to do with how cute they are or are not.

The way I see it, *all* animals are entitled to humane treatment while alive and a decent, humane death if that death is to be put upon them by humans. Even if they are destined for a slaughterhouse (cows, veal, chickens, pigs, etc.) they should be killed as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Electrocuting dogs and smashing their heads in just shows complete depravity. It is considerably quicker and easier to kill an animal with a bullet in the head or a slit throat; these guys weren't only sick fucks for hosting dog fights, they are mentally ill for getting off on killing these animals.

The more evil (then the NFL) thing is apparently Nike..

I just read a story that Nike may go forward with the launch of a new Michael Vick shoe line.

Maybe they still have time to change the name of the shoes to "Electrocution Air".
