What on earth are you defending? You have ridden 2000 miles.

IMO if you are defending yourself, you feel like you have something to defend against.

I'm not defending myself personally, but rather defending myself against a stereotype that women can't ride...

So, you consider yourself a skilled rider? Skilled enough to hold her own with the guys, the guys here whom most are racers?

I don't.

You must be good.

how many women have you ridden with?
how many women have you raced against?

I'm not saying all women can or can't ride... I can't make a blanket statement like that cuz like i can't say all guys can or can't ride. All I'm saying is, based on your experience, you're in no position to defend anything.

who said that?

I think if you consider the larger amount of men who ride compared to women, the poser/rider ration is probably pretty close. Though it's easier for guys because there are always other guys to ride with; who dont care if you havent bathed all weekend.

It's easy to spot the girls (and guys) that keep the bike parked most of the time. I dont think any of the girls here do it... becasue why else would they be here? the friendly conversation?

Easy now kiddos, I'm not making personal statements and certainly not looking to insult people. I'm just giving my feelings toward the topic that was brought up. This isn't a 'better than you' topic. Gix after as many years in the saddle as many of us around here have, you'll notice many trends, one of which I've pointed out. I'm not putting anyone in a category. I know it's in you nature, being a women and having the traits i pointed out early, but general statements are not directed at you, this is not a competiion and you don't need to defend yourselve.

Saying it doesn't make a difference anyways. A wise man once wrote, "The way we see ourselves, the way people see us, and the way we really exist are three totally different things."

No, not a skilled rider at all, never meant to imply that... and I can't hold my own with the guys, but they won't have to be stopping every 5 minutes to let me catch up. thats all.

i think i'm very aware of my limitations as a rider, but I do my best to play to my strengths rather than make my weaknesses obvious (meaning... if I go slow round a curve, i'll catch up off the turn )

and as soon as I feel as comfortable on a street bike as I do on a dirt bike, then I might only consider myself an amateur... and I haven't ridden/raced against too many women on street bikes, dirt... sure lots and have the highest respect for several. but no biggie, i just hope that y'all do know that there are women that can ride (although i may not be in that group just yet...) and should be acknowledged as such. nothing more nothing less.
