I feel your pain....my company stock dropped $17+ after we announced that we reached our quarterly earning.

Problem is that ppl were expecting the company to exceed it..so they jumped ship....BASTARDS!! Now I have to wait till next quarter to see if the price goes back up before I can even think about excerising my options.

What company do you work for?

Wall Street is a fickle lady. I've been trading for almost 10 years now and nothing surprises me anymore! Only until people realize that stocks rise and fall only beacause of Supply and Demand, will someone be profitable in trading. Sure, in the long run a companies fundamentals and earnings will cause it to rise but for short term movement or swing/daytrading (1 day - 3 month time span) supply and demand rule. Hedge funds also are a big problem on Wall Street. 10 years ago there were less than 1000 of them now it's close to 3000. They can move a thinly traded low float stock with as little as $800,000.00 !!! You won't move an Intel or Google with that little money but a bigger fund or institutional investor could and it's a fucking shame. If a funds is short a stock that would cause the stock to tank even on good news. Sometimes they will throw more money at the stock (on the short side) and cause it to go down even on good news so they don't get burned. Happens all the time unfortunetly!!!

oh no shit huh??? AKAM???? I made a killing off that stock in 2005-2006...I mean a royal killing!!! I bought the piss out of it staring from 8 bucks and stopped buying at the end of 2005 just under 20 bucks ( I think the last lot I bought was 1500 shares at 19.75 if I remember correctly....yes I remember all my good trades, AKAM happened to be one along with LEXAR Media and Maxtor all in 2005). I ended up selling all my shares in Dec 06 that averaged out to like a 15.00 buy price ( I had almost 10k shares when all my buying was done) from 54.25-55.50 sold em all. God I loved the stock! I started buying when everyone hated that company and were throwing the stock away, I always knew you guys had the best technology out there at the time...a no brainer in my book. Thanks for the hard work and padding my bank account.....haha

I just wished I bought more in 2001-2004 when it was pennies.......

Yeah last year was def a good year (hence why I two bikes). However it does upset me that the stock price went down because of these greedy bs speculators Anyways the way I see it is that next quarter prices should go up as long as expected earnings are hit.

And I'm with ya....if I knew the company was gonna do as good as it did back when I started in '01 I would have loaded myself with those penny stocks

oh yea, I remember her...she had that thing witha thing. :-) In the department I work in (Network Operation Center) and the shift I work (4pm-12am or 12am-8am) don't really socialize with many ppl unless they work with my dept
