Aluminum Anodization

Does anyone know of local places to get aluminum anodization done? I need to have some silver-colored pieces anodized a dark red.

Aluminum Anodization

I did some digging a while back looking to have some AR15 parts finished. I ended up not bothering, but here's what I found:

Duralectra in Natick will do small runs, if I remember correctly, but they have a minimum ( I think it was like $250) and you have to be able to talk the talk... MIL-A 8625 Type 2 or 3? Class 2 or 3? blah blah blah.
There's also T&T in Lovely Lowell, but I'd expect them to have a minimum too...
Caswell plating sells everything you need to do it yourself if you'd rather go that route... Apparently it's not that hard to do if you're just looking to change color... not a true hard-anodization.

Your parts aren't plated/finished already, are they? Just bare Aluminum? Do you know the alloy?

Unfortunately, they're already anodized clear. It's a 7000 series alloy (I believe 7075).

Hmmmm.....
I'm no expert, but I would expect that to complicate things???
Duralectra has this on their website:

"Salvage Work
The SANFORD PROCESSŪ allows us to repair or re-Hardcoat mismachined or worn parts."

I really think they're a larger-run shop, though, so it would probably be ridiculously expensive for a couple of parts (which is why I didn't end up anodizing the AR parts)... it may be worth calling everyone that pops up on a google maps search. Somebody may cut you a deal.

BTW, it's 7129 alloy, not 7075.

I'll let you know if I find something.

I found a place local to me, CHN Metal Finishing in Woonsocket. I gave them a shout to see if they have a minimum. I'll keep you posted.

CHN Metal Finishing Group

edit: heard back and they don't do personal items, just commercial. The search continues...

I could jump on the same color with a number of parts, like frame/swingarm/subfram if you need to meet a minimum and it's reasonable.

All comercial anodizing is clear the Color is a dye dipped.
