I've been with Verizon for about 4 yrs (use to be Bell Atlantic) and never had any problems. I like the mobile to mobile minutes cause I use them to stay in touch with my wife. Just wish they would do the rollover minutes.

I've been with Verizon forever and never had a problem. Even when one of my phones was stolen they hooked me up. Plus, I've never had an issue of getting a bad connection...

DONT GET U.S. CELLULAR!!!! The only time you get service is within seeing distance of a tower.

I've been with Verizon since long before they were Verizon, and they've always rocked. I'll be making the big switch, however, to Nextel before the end of the year though...

I've had AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon. I've had personal experience with NexTel and Cingular as well.

Verizon is my #1 vote.

The only reason I'm going with Nextel is the 'direct connect' feature. That'll come in real handy at the track next year. And I know they have service up at my place, so I won't really be giving much up. Their cellular service isn't anywhere near as widespread as Verizon though. But the direct connect is what's selling me on 'em...

sounds like I'm sticking with Verizon I guess. I have been with them since Bell Atlantic. Didn't like CellularOne (too much roaming charges, but that was years ago). nextel.... naw. I thought maybe T-Mobil so my phone would work in Europe too, but I only go a couple times a year and who cares if work can't find me?

time to pick out a new phone though...
LG VX-10??

I have the VX-1...I love it. Is the VX-10 out yet? It wasn't when I got mine (I'd been checking on LG's website for months before that).

I think I'll give Verizon a shot as well. I think my sprint contract has ended or soon.

With sprint the phones sucked donkey balls (about a year ago), and it just didn't work in so many places around here (even local...georgetown, boxford...dropping calls like mad! forget going up north too, all analog).

Verizon had cooler phones, and it just flat worked in more places. I had the Sprint phone for a while after I got the verizon, and I'd watch both of them while driving around....sprint would drop all signal, and verizon would be working fine.

Now Sprint has cool phones too, and maybe they've improved their coverage....but I've got no complaints about Verizon whatsoever.

Safety alert just came through our plant from Mobile Oil concerning cell phones:

Several incidents of cell phone ignition while pumping gasoline fuel.

The electrical discharge of lit cell phone panels has been igniting fuel fumes at filling stations.
The recommendation is to turn your cell phone off when re-fueling.

Yeah Yeah VERIZON is number 1 WOOO HOOO

PS

Oh you guys didn't know about the cell phone igniting fuel vapors when pumping gas??? DOHHHH We had a bulletin at work (Verizon) a while back... it seems that cell phones (usually hanging in someones pocket or on their waist.. ie RIGHT at fuel door and nozzle level) can ignite the gas fumes as people are pumping gas... I'm not sure if it's just the internal voltages and lights or if the phones have to ring in order to ignite but either way there have been enough people getting their crotches burnt and fried that they have put out safety bulletins so if you're one of the cell phone junkies ya might want to pay attention to what you're doing at the gas station.

Oh.. and thank you for using VERIZON.. WOO HOOO $$$$

OK I am getting rid of my Verizon in Dec. and getting a NEXTEL with more time features etc... for the same cost. New plan as of this Nov.3rd to Dec. 31 is 39.95 called the Breakthrough 5000
500 peak
2500 direct
2000 N/W
Free voice mail and caller ID

Only drawback is the cost of the phones 50-400 bucks.
My phone will be here in the morn. via Fed. Ex

I have all the info if you would like any.

my mail

any tracfone users out there?
I hardly ever use or have the need for cell phone due to the lack of cell antennae due to the lack of people in northern NH? But would come in handy for $100.00 a year and less than $10.00 a month??

I have to disagree with you on that one, I have US cellular, and I have no problems getting service if you can get service with another cell service provider, I can get in too. my particular plan, I do not pay roaming charges anywhere in New England on any tower

I can't say if they have the best plan out there, but of all the ones I looked into, they had the best plan for me

Being a Luddite from way back, I didn't get a cell phone until August this year. Lord knows, with the business I got going I should've done it long ago.

I broke out the checkbook when Verizon did what I'd actually been hoping some company would do. One bill. One bill for my home (wired) phone, my home long distance service, my DSL connection (internet service provider), and my cell phone.

That "Veriations" package of theirs gets me:

Cell = America's Choice Plan 300 peak/4000 night & weekend, mobile-to-mobile if I want it, but the minutes would be shared. All the caller ID/waiting/fwd/auto-redial/wireless web/messages stuff. Monthly was $35, cut to $30.

home = local service with call waiting, caller ID, call wait ID, 3-way, call forward, and a second number w/ distinctive ring (for my fax), regional long distance @ $.05/min, national LD @ $.08/min 24/7/365. About $40

DSL = 784/128 claimed, tested a little higher than that though because I'm so close to the local hub. Was $49.995/mo, cut to $35.

I'm fairly pleased with everything. The cell phone comes in REAL handy, and I have mostly good coverage. Up at the track the signal is weak (1-2 bars) but it does work. They had a nice Samsung SCH n300 phone for $109. It's a tri-mode with all the same features found on my son's $250+ Motorola. I like it just fine.

I'm stuck with it for about another 9.5 months, so I'd better like it! (I do.)
