firstly I think it depends entirely on your situation; you need to decide if it's a reasonable arrangement

secondly, it can be done....I've seen people do a lot worse (ie. drive from springfield to boston, 1-1/2 hours each way just so they can live with their spouse).

personally, I know people that have worked 2nd shift/married, and they seem to be ok. It just gets annoying about a year into it, and they usually end up moving to a day shift position within 14-18 months.

I'd say it can be done, but not for more than 1-1/2 years.
