truss rod adjustment

mine hasn't been adjusted in ~10 years

google sites say there should be ~0.010" gap between the frets 7-9 when you have a capo over the 1st fret, and holding the 17th fret down

but that measurement is tough without some kind of gap feeler gauge

how else can the truss rode be adjusted properly?

can I just twist the rod, wait for the neck to settle, then just play the guitar until it feels right?

thanks in advance

Re: truss rod adjustment

I would suggest brining it to a certified tech for any neck adjustments.......
You can seriously warp it if its too tight or too loose!

Re: truss rod adjustment

All By Feel, Adjust 1/4 Turn at a time Give the Headstock A tug, Try to get the action Where you want it at the 12th Fret, Then play it a little if you have some Buzz on the first 3 Frets raise the action (more releif) and just balance the level of Buzz in the Lower (1-3) Frets with the Height at the 12th.

I almost never touch the bridge saddles always adjust action with the neck.

Also note that if you play plugged it you can have much more buzzing and get away with, because alot want be heard through the Amp,

Let me know if you need more info (or if you come to town I can set it up for you)
