it's like riding a rocket ship on the straights then getting off & tip-toeing through the corners.

Seriously, we have people show up on everything from 25k dollar MV Agustas to Hyabusas to *gasp* ZX12R's

Have you never been to the tonys track day website? There was a picture of a guy on a ZX12 for the longest time plastered all over the page... he was an ugly sunuvabitch, too... and he smelled funny.

Just come up & play already... if you can ride your bike on the street then there's absolutely no reason why you can't ride it on the track.

Oh I will be, and soon. I'm just looking for the right bike, I'm being really picky about it I guess. But I think I'll have a lot more fun with the right bike, then the 12r. I think I do pretty well with the 12 as far as holding my own, but I think it would be aggravating to ride it at the track.

FWIW, the 12R is a friggin' BLAST at Loudon! It's also a pretty serious exercise in restraint.

You'll have a shit ton of fun on ANY bike. Ask fellow NESR member "wingerdor" about burning through pucks on his GOLDWING.

Your son is going to hate you. You have seeled his Fate that he will be broke for a long time to come! Track days are an addiction and I bet you can't do just one.

If you have a choice, I'd say a 600 is plenty for track riding.

This doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't do it on whatever bike you have, just saying that if you are purposely buying a trackday bike... get the 600.

We've had everything from 250cc to 1800cc, and no matter what you ride, you'll ride it better at the end of the day.

hahaha yeah, however I don't think that would pass tech inspection.
I still think I'll keep a look out for a decent 600, as it will be easier to learn on and I wont have to worry about ruining my street ride.

Umm... You were in Blue when we did a trackday together?

That is surprising, maybe I was mistaken. You just looked slow enough to be in Red.

Yep, My last trackday I was in Yellow. Was shaking out a bike I had never ridden on the track and didn't wanna get too cocky. I try to remain humble.

absolutely sick bike. I have a black '08 R1 and can't say enough good things about it. That gray color in '07 was an interesting color for Yamaha, looks great, but they didn't keep it around for long.

Yup! It's a screamer!

I need to try it ot longer than 2 minutes, with the owner of it right behind me, on my bike!

The first time I got the new R1 out on a good smooth, twisty, country road down in Maryland (heading north towards Pennsylvania), I was practically OD'ing on adrenaline. The thing is just limitless for power and agility. Luckily for me, I let my buddy who lives in the area take the lead and he was riding at a somewhat conservative pace... I probably would have sh*t my pants if I got in front of him and took off... and I wouldn't even have cared about the mess! When we finally pulled over for a break, I got off the bike and walked around, hands shaking and knees wobbling. Better ride than any theme park roller coaster could ever give.

Tell your son to enjoy the bike thoroughly, but make sure he doesn't get carried away on it, it'd be TOO easy to go overboard with that bike and wind up in a world of hurt.

That R1 is beautiful. Always liked that design.

You riding the Rex in April at the Tony's day, Kurt? I'll have mine up there as well. Should be fun

My Son liked that color grey, he figured it wouldn't show minor marring from normal garage rash as easily. He found his first rubbing of the lower right fairing on day two. Probably from the dealership.

So far he seems to be keeping it in check, from what I have seen. I think he truly wants to keep it around for awhile, I am hoping he keeps that thought in mind at all times.

I know when we did some twisties, he was complaining that he didn't feel secure with the grip of the tires. I asked him if he still had the thoughts running though his head when he totaled his R6, he said yes! That should keep him in check.

Anymore than 10 minutes on a R6 or R1 is too tough on my back/butt/wrists, I can't take it!

My plan is to be there with the Rex & the R1 on April 29, I'm still waiting on my Son letting me know if he can have that day off from his new job.

I hope to see you all up there too.

Sorry to say, but my Son wimped out on me. I really think he just "yes'ed me to death" so I would not be on his case.

I won't be there unfortunately, because I so much wanted to be there so I could chase down "Doc" on foot & tell him Fu-k-You to his face.

Say "What's wrong, Sally? Man enough for an R1 but not man enough to bring it to a closed environment where you can actually LEARN how to RIDE IT??? "

Tell your son you need back up so that this "Doc" guy won't kick your old slow ass!

That should get him to come.
