Help with paying off a lease

Has anyone here bought their car at the end of their lease? I called Nissan and got a pay off amount. They said to go to the dealer that I bought the car from. I'm planning on going there and just buying the car outright from them. Is it that easy or will they hit me with other fees? I'm way over my mileage, and put a few dings in the vehicle. Does that matter when I'm buying the car? Do I need to even bring the car there? I was planning on just swinging by the dealer some day this week on my motorcycle. Never done this before. Any help would be appreciated..

if I were you, i'd leave the car home... if they know you're over in miles and some minor damages, they know you face charges handing it in, and they will assume you have it in mind to just buy it...

If possible, make the buying out-right deal without them knowing all the details.

+1 Those things shouldn't matter, but if they see them, they'll try

If you are buying the car None of those things Matter You can have1,111,111 Miles over the limit and the thing held together with duct tape. You are buying the car off the lease. The only downside is the Payoff amount is calculated using the lease Milage. Condition and mileage only matter If you are giving them the car back.

Some companies such as BMW will Go over the car service it. and sell it to you for the Payoff amount but will sell it as a BMW certified Used car and you will recieve another warranty. the same they offer on Certified used cars

The payoff is the only factor. It is written into your contract as "lease end value" or something similar. The only fees you are looking at is another round of documentation and DMV.

you can buy out your lease for much cheaper than the original documentation in most cases.

What makes and/or banks will do this?

I've bought-out a couple Toyota leases', only one that was actually at the end of the lease though. I never thought of asking out of my contract. Maybe I screwed myself.

Re: Help with paying off a lease

Go into the dealer with all the numbers - check out KBB.com, and Edmunds.com to get all the values for your car. Use Good condition (very few cars are actually Excellent). Know the Trade in, Private party, and dealer at actual miles and expected lease miles. Nothing is set in stone - you can negotiate with the dealer - even on a lease buyout. You missed the end of the month - but money is tight for everyone and now is a good time to buy a high ticket item like a car if you can afford it.
