My Truck was broken into last night.

Sometime between when I got home at 9pm and 830am this morning.

Nothing broken, thankfullly, I guess the key ring push button lock didn't work. (I ALWAYS lock my truck!) They just opened the passenger door.

They took my visor clip sunglasses holder
wireless moble phone ear piece
Radio Shack Bearcat portable scanner
My new MSF Coach whistle
and....

My pistol. Kel-tec 3AT with hollow points.

(not sure at this point if anything else is missing, pretty sure that is it)

I could give a shit about what was taken I just hate the fact that a gun is on the street.

I filed a report and gave them the Serial number. They don't expect it to be found.

I am fucking FUMING!! Had to miss pregnancy check with my wife to deal with this crap.

I had my Leathers in the back with my A* boots. A bunch of raffle prizes that I have yet to mail, some really nice led and tactical flashlights... They didn't take any of that stuff.

Just rifled through the car really quick, threw all the shit out of the glove box and center console and took what they did.

That is twice that either the house or the car has been broken into. I want some fucking paybacK!!

I have a motion censor light and the front porch light was on all night.

Someone has some BIG balls.

I think a car alarm is in order...

Yeah, I'd be most bummed about the Kel-Tec for the same reasons you mentioned... Maybe it'll turn up if the perp is dumb enough Sucks, man.

Thats the exact reason I dont own a gun. Or do I? Maybe someone should try to break into my truck to find out. I can promise you, if I do, or I dont, its not in my truck.

Doc, I agree with you about the pistol now being on the street, that has to suck big time.

I have a alarm on my truck that has two-way communications, if they break in it will notify me on my remote. It has about a 700' clear sight range on it & works very well! I would love to catch someone trying to break in, it would make my day!

Re: My Truck was broken into last night.

Doc,

I got a wireless motion detector off of ebay for around 26 bucks. I put it in my garage and the reciever in my bedroom. When someone is in my garage it beeps and I check it out. Its only happened once when I was home during the day and it was open. A cat came in my garage and set it off. Scared me though, I am like who is in my garage. Anyway you could mount a couple of them outside your house and even in your car and it will wake you up. Just put some black tape over the red light on it. You will catch them.

Re: My Truck was broken into last night.

My neighbor's car got broken into the other night, by what apparently seemed like a 13-14 yrs old kid, in the middle of the night. My neighbor saw him running away...(where were the parents uh?) The fact that this could very well be a kid who now has your gun in their hands sucks BIG time. What will they do with it next? And they might very well live close to your home, too. Ditto to motion sensors...try to catch those little fuggers...or get a big dog... good luck.

since nobody else has mentioned it allow me, WTF was your gun doing unlocked, unattended and loaded in your truck? You do realized that if something does happen now with that gun in this sue happy world you can be held liable for negligence?

Re: My Truck was broken into last night.

First I doubt they will try it again for awhile

Second I live on a rather busy street and rather close to neighbors, the motion detector would not work as it would be going off all the time. I do have a motion light that senses movement in my driveway AND in my Garage. Plus the front porch light was on AND I live on a busy street (until about 1-3am when I am betting this occured. I will be up all night tonight watching people walk by.

As to the above. I ALWAY lock my truck. (I think the battery on my remote is going dead) It was secure in my center console where no one can see it. I usually take it with me but my wife does not like to see it so I left it in the truck last night, fully thinking I had locked the truck.

As for the liabilty issue. It has been reported stolen to the police with the Serial number. I am no longer liable.

Vermont has NO carry law.

I won't be leaving the next one in the truck anymore. It will be on me all the time from now on.

Re: My Truck was broken into last night.

BTW.

All of a sudden I am negligent because someone broke into my truck and STOLE my possesion.

What about people who leave there loaded guns in their houses? No difference. Give me a break here people.

Yes by reporting it you are no longer liable for criminal charges but still there is the risk for civil charges which can be worse than the criminal charges.

Locking your truck does not make it safe, even an in-experienced person can be in and out of there before you could react to an alarm.

As for the people who leave them loaded in there house it is no diffent and is still not safe. A gun, even unloaded, should only be accessable to you at all times. So in the courts eyes if a civil lawsuit was filed yes you can still be found as negligent.

I am really not trying to be a dick, just hoping you will be a little more carefull next time and that they find whoever did this before anything bad can happen.

Re: My Truck was broken into last night.

Another odd thing.

There was a half box of Sunbelt chocolate chip chewy granola bars left on the passenger seat.

I thought that my wife had left the box in the truck but she said she hadn't.

Odd.

I wonder if they can finger print the box.

(Then again, maybe it was a Bear...or a Denno...)
