Re: planet fitness

I go to Golds gym - a lil bit pricey (30$ a month) but definitely worth it. Clean, brand new facility with tons of machines and cardio. I never have to wait to use a machine ever and plenty of parking.

Re: planet fitness

depends on what you're into and what your goals are. If you're into body building I suggest going to another gym like goals or LA Fitness or just a gym that is geared more towards body building and people who're serious about the gym. if you however just are a beginner and getting into fitness.. then sure PF is fine.. but anything else.. find somewhere else b/c you WILL get repremanded and/or kicked out for lifting heavy weights.. or breathing heavy due to lifting heavy weights and any thing that comes with lifting heavy .. or if you make other people feel uncomfortable for being in too good of shape.

I'm not being sarcastic. I used to go to PF. I now belong to gold's and love it.

no i'm not some beast however I'm a fitness nut and am into lifting.. the bf is into body building along with most my friends.. i've already known a bunch of people who've been booted from PF.

Last Monday they had pizza day. All the fatties at the gym were stuffing down pizza. Maybe if there was more judgement and less pizza flowing, some of those folks might be better off.

Also the gym in my town is overcrowded, lacks adequate parking, its HVAC systems are too small, so it is always hot and overly humid.

Just my opinion.
TRUE STORY!!
LMAO

pizza day?! since when was it OK to eat pizza when you have a weight problem and need to lay off eating shit. Yea. thought so.

judgement free my ass. If you're lean, cut, ripped or whatever.. you get chastised for it for making others feel uncomfortable.. not to mention if you're a guy and you're jacked and such.

Thank-you Tiffany. It had to be said. I was starting to think that I stood alone on their abusive policies.

BTW; I am not a meathead that throws around weights. Am just a regular person. So this is a regular person opinion instead of some huge gorilla that wants to throw weights.

PF Sucks. Run away from them.

I don't mind the PF here, hope you have an Ipod though. Not sure if they are all like the one here, but the music they play is terrible. It does not motivate me to work out at all.

Re: planet fitness

I've been a member for a little over a year now at the Planet Fitness in South Burlington, VT. I think its probably the best deal around $$$ wise. The staff is friendly and they keep the place really clean. Only drawback is DB's only go up to 75lb, there's no squat rack, and its kind of tight in there. All in all a good gym though.

That's the one that I go to The one over by the Burton thing (I'm not actually sure what they do in there, maybe a warehouse?), right?

I think its nothing more than a warehouse or factory. I see a lot of trucks in and out. The retail store is over by Oak Ledge Park. Actually now that I think of it, im pretty sure its an assembly factory. It seems like all of the employees come and go at the same time each day.

Re: planet fitness

I like it. For $10/month you can get a basic membership, or for $20 you can go to any of them (which is nice since there all over the place), and bring guests. The quality of it really depends on the location though, The Burlington one has pretty adequate equipment, reasonable crowds, and is a good gym overall. The one in Woburn is lacking in some pretty basic equipment (no barbells AT ALL) and dumbbells only up to 60lbs. The one in sommerville has a super fancy locker room but its overcrowded all the time, and has signs "if you are caught doing deadlifts you will be kicked out immediately" Pretty asinine, You can't actually lift weights at the gym, you might accidentally scare someone

Thats retarded.

Deadlifts are on of the most important lifts. Some of the PF rules are crazy. Luckily, the staff here in Burlington, don't really care. They run the place well and professionally. But I've only seen the lunk alarm go off as a joke, and no one has been kicked out for grunting that I have seen.

mm yea.. god forbid if you breathe heavy due to the weight you're lifting.. you get booted out.

The damn place is a joke.

I'm obviously no meathead , but I take my lifting seriously. and that place now bugs the crap out of me.

going to check out the new LA fitness in Spfld whenever it re-opens (some idiot drunkass crashed into it causing a huge fire.. so it's temp shut down). But for now, Gold's is the way to go!

I wish there was a Gold's here as well.

The funniest part about that video, is that the guy was squatting on a smith machine. . . .

Re: planet fitness

From PF's own website. Candy, pizza, and bagels. 3 things to keep you fat. Did I ever mention that I don't care for Planet Fitness

"Have you seen PF's famous candy jars filled with purple and traditional Tootsie RollsŪ? We go through over 750,000 each month!

On Pizza Nights (the first Monday of every month) we go through 3000 pizzas. That's 24000 slices per year!

The second Tuesday of every month we serve up free bagels to our club members! Come on by and get your own!

Only at PF!"

I'll bet you don't pay taxes cause you get a refund, right?

They charge you ~$3K and you think you're doing good cause you get $150 back.

Look into HSAs. Way better than HMOs if you're healthy 90% of the time.
