1988 Celtics.....

Ok the story here is short.

Grandfather worked at Brandeis University for 30 years, during that time the Celtics used to practice there. So he has a Celtics Practice BB with 14 of the 16 Signatures, including Bird, Parish, Ford, just to name a few. cant really make out some of the others.

So we are looking around trying to figure what its worth and i am getting pissed. I dont want this thing to leave the family. How often do you get something like this. A piece of sports history, sure they lost to the pistons in the eastern conf. that year, but just the fact that something like this exists in my non athletic family is a jewel to me and everyone is set on appraisal and value so they can sell it.

What do yall think something like this is worth? Anyone know someone into sports memorabilia that could give me some tips. I figure if they are gonn sell it I want to know it at least goes fairly.

Fuckin Shit this is depressing!

Re: 1988 Celtics.....

Just in case you think this is just another bullshit post (which i won't disagree with)

pics!

You can see the L Bird on the right side here.

It looks like Kevin Mchale? oops upside down on the right side!

Chris Ford in this one

If you look really closely you can see someone from the 88 team is trying to say something, maybe go fuck yourself.

SHIT most of these are upside down!
I found Robert Parish last night, but cant make out some of the others. If you can read some of the signatures let me know. I also have more pics as i missed ones side of it and just realized when i uploaded them.

Re: 1988 Celtics.....

I know some people in the collectibles business.

It's not worth a fortune. A ball signed by the big three (bird, mchale, parrish) will fetch about 5hundo. But all the other signatures just detract from that. I recommend you convince them it's not worth anything because it has too many signatures on it, and give them $100 for their troubles. That should be kept in the family if anyone gives a damn about your grandpop.

Re: 1988 Celtics.....

Unless you can prove authenticity of the signatures then you will have a hard time selling it. I have tons of autographed baseballs and stuff and was trying to sell em a few years ago, but nobody would give me anything for em since I could not prove they were authentic.
