My new project

may seem minute to most of you, but im kind of excited...

so my brother moved out, i had to move back home and we kind of have this huge room we separated with an entertainment system. I plan on completely redoing his room, moving the entertainment system, and creating my own little living area since i'll probably be there until i'm married.

so on my own:
possible new rug
just gonna prime and paint over the panneling
new lighting??

anyway, haha not that big of a deal but it's my first time home improvements on my own lol.--- prep for buying and flipping a house

sooo, anyone have a small love seat or chair they want to get ride of for my new shaggin shack haha jk

I don't know if you're interested, but my best friend just moved in with me and has a really nice futon (looks more like a couch) that she needs to sell. Its forest green.

You should get a nice hope chest as well and fill it with towels, linens, quilts, dishware and other womanly stuff. This will make you more desirable to a possible male suitor.

Re: My new project

Correction: The sofa chair is from Jordan's Furniture, sorry my brain was fried yesterday. Oh yeah and the best part is...it's FREE. Come and grab it, it's VERY comfy. It's one of the sofas that are in our living room set, you've seen them...we just want to part with it to make more room in the living room, feels too cluttered as it is now.

i do not know whats behind the panneling but i have a feeling its crappy old drywall, and thats why im just going to paint over it. I want it done fairly quickly so the whole patching thing would take too long.

V, I'll def. take it so dont give it away!

excellent idea.
Making your own wine is easier though, and it doesnt smell nearly as bad. Ive done both, and currently do wine. Its simple, not really that messy, and you can have 30 bottles of deilicious adult grape juice in as little as a month!
Only been doing it for a couple years, but the 2006 Merlots and Cabs are getting better by the month!

i can give you a run-down and places to get supplies if you're interested.

Fuckin'a. If I could stand living with my mom, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Most of the people I work with are at least 3 or 4 years older than me and they are doing it. As it is right now with rent, car payment, heating oil, etc. I'm barely able to save money. Although 25% of my salary goes into retirement accounts before I ever see it.

Make sure you use a good bonding primer before you paint, and give the paneling a sanding before you prime.

Re: My new project

Yeah I would have done the same but my mom remarried and I can't stand the guy. I moved out before my 19th birthday. I love the freedom but think of all the money I could have saved, for atleast a year or two more.

Re: My new project

When I think about it, if I lived at home since I was 18 (23 now) I would have saved probably 20 grand in rent alone.

One of my good friends lived at home all throughout college and worked full time too. He just bought a house and a boat last year. I'm a bit jealous.

Re: My new project

end of day 1....

i washed the walls, used de-glosser (liquid sanding???), taped and did a quick prime. Quick prime just to see the imperfections better, which i plan on filling in/sanding down monday and then doing a real prime job.

im just a little high tonight....
