sears garage door openerhow do you program remotes with garage door openers? our family has an old sears garage door opener (model# 139.664053) and had a scare when our last remote was presumed lost fortunately, we found ours, but realized that we def. need more...unfortunately they don't make that remote anymore so I can't get it directly from sears I found a set on eBay that matches the model # of the remote that we have and was hoping to program them as back-ups to our current remote: Craftsman garage door openers --model 139.53778 - eBay (item 320269168899 end time Jul-07-08 05:34:08 PDT) |

Re: sears garage door openerI can't see the ebay link since I'm at work ( ) but if they're anything like the one's I've got, there's usually there's a strip of switches inside the remote that look like little tiny light switches. You flip the switches up or down to match the strip that's in the main unit.Open up the remote you already have at home & see if it's got one. It's just a matter of finding a compatable remote & flipping the switches to match. Should look somethin kinda like this when you open it up. ![]() If not, well then, I dunno what to tell ya ![]() Last edited by OreoGitorio : 07-04-08 at 04:18 PM. |

Re: sears garage door openerI had remotes that looked like those at my old house There should be a button on the garage door opener. You'll hit that button... a light will blink. They you hit the button on the remote and the lights will blink again. Then it should work after that. |

Re: sears garage door openerYou should give a check to the Chamberlain website, I believe Chamberlain OEM's the Craftsman openers - and if those are of the Security+ type (no dip switches, all rolling codes): Chamberlain Product Help Center g'luck. |

so I got the new remotes today, matched the switches, and found out that both new (used) remotes work with the (1970's?) garage door opener we have I'm really psyched about this ![]() those remotes are near impossible to find, even used, so to snag TWO more that work means the garage door opener and remotes should be good for another 30 years, thanks oreogaboriault! ![]() |
