iPod nano?I will get an iPod nano soon. I'm looking at the 8GB. When they say up to 2000 songs, 8 hours video and 7000 pictures, do they mean you can have all those separatly stored, up to that amount on the iPod, or does it mean that it's all "combined" together? If you have 8 hours of video uploaded for exemple, that you have no more room for anything else? It must depends on the quality (size) of the pictures, video and songs? I'd assume high resolution pictures, videos and songs will take up more space than poor quality files, right? (same as a computer in fact) If it's all "combined", I might have to get the classic model...just didn't want to spend that much on the thing ($250.00, with no accessories), ya know? I'd like to get the base for the home and some nice small speakers of decent quality to go with it. Don't want to brake the bank tho. I looked on Ebay...there is TONS of refurbished iPods on there...I want new, or almost new with no scratches or anything. When you make a search for "new" iPod nano 8GB, there is quite a few coming up at better prices than the retail $199.00 but can I trust to have a genuine one...hmm. Some even come with extras, such as car charger, etc. (which I will need) ALSO...should I use an FM transmitter to listen to the mp3's on my Pioneer sound system, or should I just go back to the sound shop who installed my stereo and ask them to wire the iPod kit in there so I can hide it in my gloves compartment? Which one will give me better sound quality (or it is the same?) THANKS... |

Re: iPod nano?I have an ipod connector to my dvd player in my truck, I think those transmitter things suck. Also, I just got a new ipod 80gig and it was $250 I think, meanwhile the nano was $200 for 8 gigs. I can store an assload of songs and videos as well. |

Re: iPod nano?I spent 30 bucks on a 4gb card for my cell phone & another 30 bucks on a Sony Ericsson bluetooth stereo headset ![]() It's got its limitations, but for 60 bucks I can't complain! |

Re: iPod nano?I have about 100 songs uploaded on my cell...but I can't listen to them in my car...I think there is a way of connecting thru blue tooth sound to my stereo, but haven't learned how to use it yet. Besides, you get tired fast of listening to the same 100 songs all the time and I don't feel like changing the library every week...lol |

Re: iPod nano?Well shit, if you can figure out how to hook it up to your car stereo just get a bigger card. I've got over 400 songs stored on my phone & it's barely 1/2 full. |

the sound quality between the 2 doesnt even compare do it right the first time and save the 20 bucks it costs for the stupid fm transmitter. also the cables charge the ipod at the same time its hooked up to your radio so no need for a charger. just check that your radio is compatible with whatever your ipod is. its in the manual. also the cable is CHEAP! do it yourself. whatever the cable costs and 15 minutes of time will have it wired in. the radios today are just a cable and all it takes is to pull the radio out plug in the cable and run it out to your glove box. plug in your ipod and enjoy. how about this not convincing enough, buy the cable drive to my house you'll be on your way home in less than 30 minutes and i wont charge you a dime. also i have a 30g ipod video and in 3 years i have only managed 5 gigs of music. video on these things is pointless unless you use it to stream to your tv or you are a frequent traveler and have plenty of time to focus on a screen smaller than a cellphone screen my .02 Last edited by R1slowflyer : 07-10-08 at 03:36 PM. |

Re: iPod nano?damn...I got bamboozled! I know what you mean, but I just saw it as another 78 gigs of space for only 50 bucks more...does suck to spend that much on something like that though. |

Re: iPod nano?Check into the features hardwiring the IPOD into the stereo will give you. I went with the Dension unit for my BMW factory unit because it gives me full text, and lets me control the IPOD with the steering wheel controls. I use an FM transmitter in my Exploder and the sound quality just isn't there. |

Re: iPod nano? Thanks, make sense. Might be better for me to get the classic...it will be used mostly for songs. But I want to upload some pictures, and maybe some videos for the kids in the car (hoping it will be compatible with the portable DVD player that we have) It would suck to buy it, just to wish later on I had more room to put more. |

Re: iPod nano?iPods are "portable" audio therefore great for audio and video with the sound piped through headphones. If you've got a DVD player in your car, play DVDs in it. Are you sure the DVD players doesn't play MP3s? If it does, just burn an MP3 DVD and stick it in there. It'll hold plenty of songs and the quality will be way better than any iPod connection to it. Same goes for home audio. An iPod is a poor excuse for a home music player. Either stream them from your computer to your stereo or burn them to a MP3 CD or DVD and play them that way. Newer stereos have a thumb drive input too. If you couldn't tell, I'm not a fan of this whole, plug my iPod into everything I own generation. |

Re: iPod nano?Well what do you know...I just found myself a KILLER deal with someone on here. Looks like I just got myself a brand new iPod Classic for dirt cheap. ![]() With the Pioneer stereo I have, I can install the wire for iPod connection, and then just throw it in the gloves compartment and forget about it. I can control everything from the stereo deck after that or use the remote. R1slowflyer...I might just take you up on that offer. I'll see first if I can do it myself...I did wire my Sirius antenna all around the car windows myself, all the way to the front and inside the car. If I can't do it, I'll give you a shout. |

Rob, I know what you are saying, and I agree. We do stream mp3's from the computer to the surround sound of the house (actually, thru the Xbox360 if I'm not mistaken). The portable DVD player we have for the car is nothing special, we got it for the kids. The sound is not good to play music, and it is not connected to the stereo (maybe it could be connected, I don't know...) I will be able to load the iPod with thousands of songs, and use it everywhere, including the gym. My car stereo is wicked good tho, so I trust that the sound quality will be good enough. |

Re: iPod nano?I just got my new iPod. Question: can I transfer the mp3's that I downloaded from the net on this thing, or can I only put original store-bought CD's or buy songs on iTunes? |

Re: iPod nano?FIGHT THE MACHINE dont buy ipods!! haha jk I own one and so does my wife. Hardwire your ipod to you car stereo which you seemed to have figure that out. You can plug your ipod into any home stereo with the two wire audio cable. No need for the other stuff if you have those. My wife wants the bose stereo for her office so I will be picking one up at some point for her. |
