[story/help!?] Talk about bad luck...

So I'm driving down Rt. 9 in Shrewsbury this evening where there is a lot of construction. People are stopping in the left lane because it's closed. Apparently the car infront of me went too close to the construction and felt that throwing the car in reverse and flooring it would be a brilliant idea.
Unfortunately for me, I was boxed in at a stop...the guy in a black ford explorer, no license plate, smashes into the front of my car at about 20 miles an hour in reverse!!! In awe, and unable to see a license plate, I put the car in park, step out (traffic is stopped so it was relatively safe) and look at the front of my car which has apparent damage. As i go to approach the explorer, the guy guns it into the next lane where there is an opening and takes off!!

He/She had no license plate on the car, tinted windows, and blackout light covers. I immediately call the shrewsbury police department and try my best to follow said car at a safe distance...again to my misfortune, they took off going atleast 80 down rt. 9 then down lake ave. in worcester until i lost them, and the shrewbury police department said there was nothing that they could do since it was a hit and run and I had no license plate to give them

I gave them the description of the car, told them the direction i last saw the car going in, and where the accident happened, etc etc etc. still....nothing they could do.

so now I have a lovely crack in the front bumper, grille is snapped in half, and the hood is slightly dented.

Does anybody have any idea where I can get a new grille/help with fixing a 2000 S70 volvo?!?? I'm throughly pissed off and could really use a good, no bullshit set of hands to help me out.

CLIFFS*** car hit and run, no plates on what was probably a stolen vehicle who hit me, need a 2000 S70 volvo grille.

thanks,
stef

That sucks.. messed up story, I've had my car hit and run a few times, but never while in the car

If you have collision on your car you should be able to collect on the damages. You'd still be out the deductible, but body damage at shop rates adds up quick and you might still end up with enough to make it worthwhile.

Dealing with that is along my area of expertise... I could lend you a hand getting some cheap replacement parts and fixing it up.

Highly recommend Sansossio Autobody in Natick, MA if you are near there. Ask for "Young Phil" and tell him I sent you.

What the frigg...The police couldn't even say something like "we will go look out while on patrol for this reckless vehicle that might kill everyone in it's path"...that kinda sucks.

Anyway, I would suggest checking junkyards all across eastern mass...there is a good chance you could find a front end/grill in good shape somewhere for a 2000...best of luck

Sorry to hear... I travel that road quite frequently and that section is completely fucked. I actually got pulled over by a shrewsbury cop(most of whom in my experience happen to be asshats) who claimed that I made an illegal lane change in the construction area without signalling. After explaining to the cop that there are in fact NO MARKED LANES due to said construction, he eventually let me off.

Take it to Ray's Autobody in N. Grafton. Ray will take your car, pay for your rental, deal with your insurance company, and you will have no headache.

I got in an accident last December and they really made my life easy.

Re: [story/help!?] Talk about bad luck...

thanks for all the help guys,
i actually found a 98 replacement grille from a super helpful guy who works out of a junk yard. the emblem isn't the same but other than that it fits just fine plus it was only 50 bucks which was pretty sweet. I figured out how to put it on myself and took care of a few of the dents with the old "hammer away at it" technique heh. still a few dings in it but a hell of a lot better than what it looked like last night
