Last Wednesday my laptop comes to a screaming halt. Call the IT guys....

Thursday morning he comes to get it says I have a virus that there is not even software to clean yet...

Takes my laptop and promises to call me before the end of the day.

Thursday comes and goes.

Friday I call his office and get told he is working on it.

Get a text message later saying if he does not finish he will take it home over the weekend and they PROMISE I will have it back first thing Monday morning.

This morning I wait till 9:30...no word. I call the office and his boss promises to call me right back. By 1:00 I am calling and being told even the boss is not there....hmmmm

So I just get a call from the owner.....

The dude took it home alright....but they have not seen or heard from him since. Never showed up for work, won't answer his home or cell phone.....



So, I am supposed to leave for the track in 2 hours and I don't even have payroll done, nevermind the other 14 things I have to finish before I go.

hey let me know if you need an extra hand setting up tomorrow mornin. i'll be sleeping in a parking lot or the woods somewhere and will most likely be there at the ass crack of dawn bored and itchin to go lol. i'm heading out in a few but orero's got my numbah.

but that does suck. i had stuff i didnt finish on friday that needed to be done for monday. and you bet your ass i was here on saturday for 3.5 hours finishing up what had to be done. and yes, i want a for being awesome.

Not to make light of your situation Janice, but I really hope the IT guy is alright. If he hasn't answered either of his phones, there's a good change that he's simply gone missing during a wild and crazy weekend. Have you checked the local hospitals for someone fitting his description? What about the morgue for any John Does? I will light a candle and pray for his safe recovery.

So here it is over two weeks later and I still don't have the thing back.

After they found the Tech that had the laptop it was delivered back to my office on Tuesday while I was at the track. After a full day of working and riding, I drove home (Loudon to W. Bridgewater MA) at 9:00pm arriving at 11ish to do the payroll. Only when I turned it on....pfft.....not fixed. I could not do a single damn thing! Get back in the truck and drive back to the RR for the second TTD on Wednesday, arriving at 2:30am, 80.00 in fuel later, with still no payroll done and 35 soon to be angry employees on the horizon.

Thursday when I return to work I call and they come pick it up again.

Apparently, I did not have a virus but a failed hard drive.

Dell ships the hard drive to the IT guy, yadda yadda....I should have it back today.

This morning I went to their offices and had a very nice, polite, calm conversation with the owner. I expressed my frustrations, concerns etc regarding my dedicated support team and gave him some of the recent history regarding this and other issues.

I just got a call from the owner....the dude just got fired.

Now I feel like such an asshole

As an IT Guy myself, I can see how you would feel that way. However, his lack of professionalism, skill set (obviously, he mis-diagnosed a Failing HD as a Virus? Please), and work ethic caused his situation, not you.

No one gets fired for one complaint, it's the dozen or so other complaints that you don't know about, the performance reviews that he's tanked horribly, and failing to follow basic procedures that resulted in his termination.

Plus, he probably made a mint off that home-made pr0n that was on your lappy

Did you give the late IT guy a link to the site so he can post up about whateverthefuck he might be up to throughout the day, you know - so we can be aware of his wellbeing? If not, how are we to know?
