+1, I've been burned a number of times even with written agreements. I took one low budget client to small claims and even then all they said was "you have to pay him" and it was up to me to collect.

Eventually I learned my lesson and stopped doing any work past the sales process without a down payment. Its amazing how many people walk when it comes down to the bottom line. This is why I rarely do any freelance work anymore.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... do not lend out what you cannot afford to lose. go in to it hoping for the best and expecting the worst. If you cant handle the worst, not getting paid back then go for it...

if you get burned you know the type of person they are and in the long run, you'll probably get off a lot cheaper.....

I'm guessing that our young, boy wonder will be the recipient of the loaned money. Furthermore, I will venture a guess that his sweet, little grandmother will be the one loaning him the money. one tip....forget about the legal doc...if someone person isnt going to repay a friend/family member back, they aren't going to regardless if you or a judge tells them too...

have whomever is borrowing the money open a checking account at the same bank the lender uses. Set up your direct deposit to send "x" amount of money every pay period to that account then talk to the bank and set up an automatic transfer the day after the deposit....shouldnt cost anything(or much) and everyone wins
