Talking BlackBerry fix

Frankenstein and Billy, I know you guys will appreciate this one.

So one of my co-workers came into my office this morning with a broken 7520 BlackBerry and asked for a swap.

I grabbed another one off the shelf to perform the swap on BES.

Popped the battery in and got Device Error: 422.
Clicked the trackwheel to reset and got the same error.

Went on a BlackBerry Forum and searched for the error code & found this.
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...373-reset.html

read post #8, then #13 and next few after.

Gave it a shot & no joke, the phone worked right after.

Talk about hi-tech phone fixes

NOTE: Denno alert

Re: BlackBerry fix

who would've thought the proper fix would be throwing your phone on the ground several times. wonder what the repair shops would charge for such a fix

Re: BlackBerry fix

I had some Van Gogh Blackberry Vodka last night. I'm not sure how much. It tasted like it was right off the vine. I guess that (partially) explains the dick drawings.

Re: BlackBerry fix

Ill pay you 5$ a phone just to take a phone an whip it off the ground.

youll just have to sign a waiver first stating that if the phone does brake your an idiot for letting me get my hands on it!

no that's a known memory leak with the 8100 pearls. the patch has been "in process" since i started asking in january. the only resolution for that is to pull your battery and clear your internet cache every few days.

what's happening is the Pearl is thinking it's low on memory, when it really isnt. Go to options --> status and keep an eye on your free memory. when it hits under 200,000 free, it will start to delete your SMS messages, call logs, browser history, cookies, cache, and non saved messages.

another fix you can do is to do what i did and get the 8300 Curve to use until the Pearl's patch is released

It's also a good idea to set the message retention period to 30 days. My wife's 8100 never has that issue and I had one for 6 month or so and never had it either. Also, if you use the camera get a memory card and store the pics there instead of the system memory.

Re: BlackBerry fix

i had a 6gb microSD card in mine, set everything to the mass storage device, and it still wiped my phone every few weeks. had my message retention set to the minimum 30 days like josh said, but still didnt help.

Since I'm a BES guy for Sprint & Nextel's, i've only worked on 8130 Pearls, but I've been told the issue is with all 81xx pearls.

the 8330 curve doesnt have that memory leak issue, if you're looking for a similar phone

I have an 8110 with a mess of apps and stuff on it and it doesn't have that issue so far either, but my free memory never drops below 15M.

Wait for the Bold to come out. Check blackberry.com for pictures and specs.

But if you like smaller phones and the shared buttons don't bother, I like the Pearl.

Re: BlackBerry fix

I had the Rumor... I hated it, but B is on the wrong side of the space bar. Mine was defective all around though. Fuckin US Cellular is like the bastard step child of cell phone companies.

I'm definitely getting the enV2.
