ok now that we have gotten over the "attention whore newbie" segment of this thread, can we talk about the "miserable users" hack mentioned in the opening post of this thread? We still haven't gotten a straight answer from our administrators on whether 1) yes they use it 2) why they do/do not use it 3) why they are/aren't open and public about using said hack.

It doesnt need to be moterated by the admins, people just need to show a little curteosy and not act like complete idiots in every post. Some people have thousands of posts and have never really annoyed anyone or hijacked a thread.

Actually they did openly say they would use it if a member does certain things..I remember reading it sometime last week.

Kinda my point, once you spoke up it was mostly on topic. Ill admit I do post enough dumb shit to hold my own. However, these posts usually get off with one or two posts and go from there. Eventually, you post about what someone said because you just read 10 posts about something completely different. IF we keep our own threads in order, everything should stay somewhat decent. Also reading a post that tells someone to get back on topic might serve as a reminder to subsequent posters. Just a thought...

I think they do, but at the same time they don't like the negative issues generated by the hands-off admin approach and most don't seem interested in putting forth any effort to make things better themselves.

Thats what I said, no mods need to be involved. The fact is someone will always think of something off topic to post in a thread, so the OP should watch their own threads and moderate themselves. Unfortunately, theres no way to expect everyone to just stay on topic on their own.

Yes, Not sure where..I looked a bit but couldn't seem to find it. I forget what the origional topic was about, But Stoneman basically ended up saying he is getting tired of something and said if users violate certain rules(he said they werent light rules, it would take something pretty serious) he would use the miserable user hack..He used it by name.

And yes, as far as how badly this thread was being shit on..thats what brought me to my rants aswell..
