has anyone been to the rendezvous in New York?

Have any of you guys or girls ever gone to the rendezvous in New York? What is it like? I hear it is crazy, I am supposed to go and was just wondering if anyone from here would be there or be able to fill me in on what it's like..
Thanks

From what I hear you don't want to show up on a sport bike...

Won't they be changing the name to "Freedom Meeting" this year, given how Rendezvous is French and all?

I have a hd but I am not bringing my bike, this rendezvous is starting to sound kinda mean, I hope it isn't.

Ah yes, the Harley Rendezvous. I actually attended once in the late 80's/early 90's. WOW, is about all I can say. I witnessed no less than FOUR sportbikes burn (and I mean BURN) in the 2 days we were there. I was TOLD that people would steal 'em on the way to the Rendezvous just for that purpose...

Not sure how they act now, but back then women that were there weren't held in the highest regard...

Holy shit the pics that came back from that place! Think of it this way. You drive down to a private farm in NY where basically anything goes, can be fun and can be not so fun depending on what your into.

Anything goes for sure, From what I hear a least one person dies every year Overdosing.
Lots of Naked women running around, Lots of drunks, live bands, any you could ever want.

You should be fine if you leave the sport bike behind.

Be sure to bring boots, if it rains it will be one big mud puddle, also be sure to bring lots & lots of film for the camera, If you dont get pics nobody will believe what you say you saw there..

Oh yeah no cam-corders are allowed there. Camera's are ok..

I heard all this from a guy from work who's going.

I would go if I were you!

OMG.. I will be going there every year now. What a crazy ass time. I didn't bring my camera but my friends had a few disposable ones with them. I saw a few race bikes (all 2 of them) neither were destroyed, they were safe. There were a few older Honda's and Yamaha's that I saw also. There were no bike burnings that I saw, which made me feel better. I actually felt fairly safe running around like a wild child. Depending on the pics I will post some of them, others not a chance. I slept an average of 3 hours each night. too much partying and all I do is drink, My liver transplant will probably be needed in a few years at this rate. The mud was nasty on saturday night, I was covered. I had to wash my jeans and boots in the bath tub when I got home on sunday. The only video camera allowed was the one for the harley rendezvous video. There was a whole lot of everything going on it was nuts, fun but nuts.
I was surprised by a couple of things I saw here and there but for the most part it takes a lot to shock me.

is this thing the reason why the traffic was so shitty coming home last night? it took us nearly 5 hours to get home from albany yesterday? The mass pike was a fuggin parking lot.
this was quite possibly the worst traffic i ever got stuck in since moving to boston.

Yes that would probably be the reason. We left at 10 am and got back around 2pm, and we left before a lot of the others did just to avoid some of the traffic.

Brent...

Don't know if you've been on the Pike a lot (how long have you lived here?) but the Pike is almost always horrendous on Sunday afternoon/evening.

Try coming back on the Pike from Western MA on Christmas Eve or Thanksgiving. It's incredibly painful. (My grandparents live out there)

yea but on a random sunday evening its not THIS bad, i am used to various slow downs, usually near the 84 interchange.... but this started at exit 6... and just never ended. usually by 7 p.m. or so it starts thinning out. we ended up bailing early and heading north to route 2 and then east.
but even up on rte 2 there were a lot of cars. it was weird last night. not like i have ever seen out here before.

It was a blast... no fires.... I plan on going every year now. I will post some pics, then you can see how fun it was. I need to find a place like that all the time. It was so laid back and fun it was incredible. I met a lot of nice people, a few jerks here and there, but not as many as I thought there would be.
