Camping, RV Style... That thing ROCKS! Yeah, it's THIRTY years old and all. But that thing didn't even come close to letting us down this weekend. Absolutely EVERYTHING in it worked and operated flawlessly...
Rolled into the campgrounds around 8:00 Friday night. Tough roads to get to our site, but she pulled through with no problems. It was dark and we wanted to start hitting the sauce, so we just hooked up the electricity and water and set to our night of fun. Time for bed, and ten minutes later our couch and dinette were converted to two double beds. Outstanding!
Saturday morning rolls around, now it's time to check out some of the convenience features. Whoo hooo! Let's get the coffee maker going. Hey, let's see if we can bake those rolls too! The friends that went with us were nice enough to cook up some grub for breakfast, so we headed over to their site with our rolls and enjoyed some good, stick to your ribs slop...
After breakfast, Cheryl decided it was time to break out the Crockpot and get some stew going. Good thinking my girl, good thinking. Once that was all set up, it was time to hit the sauce again. A little early, no doubt. But what's better than wading in a mountain brook with a Cap'n & ginger at 10:00 in the morning? Eh, it was noon SOMEWHERE! Once the stew was about done, we baked up some dinner rolls and got ready to 'host' a dinner at our site. Dinner was a bit early, so we all decided to do up some steak tips and bakers later on. Meat & potatoes, drink, meat & potatoes, rinse & repeat. How good is life?
Sunday morning rolls around, and we decide to treat our friends to breakfast. Panfries, bacon (turkey, of course!), eggs (any style..heh, heh), more breakfast rolls, left over steak, and of course Cap'n & ginger. What a way to start off a Sunday morning!
I'm hooked! It's been YEARS since we've gone camping. But we used to do 'disbursement' style camping, so we know how to rough it. I was floored at how easy it is to live in an RV for a few days. All the amenities of home, but with a camp fire on your front steps. Outfugginstanding!
The bathroom in the RV was a treat. An art form, to say the least. With NO room for error. I'd say if there was a downfall to the new (to us) rig, it'd easily be that. I didn't even bother trying the shower out, I KNEW there wouldn't be enough room in there for me. Fill up the 'kitchen' sink, and do the 'New York shower' thang. Good enough...
All in all, an incredible experience. All systems were a go, and it was incredibly easy to adapt to all the hookups and drains and all that shizzle. Most campgrounds up this way close at the end of October, but you can bet your collective arses we'll be doing a coupla more weekends before we run outta time! |
