i went the boston ski show tonight and came across this camera company called Drift Innovations. the best way to describe their camera is a cross between a GoPro and a Contour. the rep was a cool guy and talked with us for a good 15min. they are right there with the 2 big names in helmet cams and are looking to get some exposure.
the camera sports;
-1080p
-a video display covered with gorilla glass so you can see what youre aimed at and actually play back the video and see if its worth keeping. if not then delete it right there..no need to hook up to the computer.
-it also does a continuous loop record
-weatherproof up to 3 meters. guy said he surfs with it and has no issues. they suggest if youre going scuba diving with it then you should use their waterproof case
-remote to turn on the camera (can be worn like a watch) and access menu changes
-can easily change from photo mode to 720 to1080 all from the camera without need for a computer hook up
-HDMI hook up
-camera has a mic but also has a mic hook up
-rotating lens
-same lens width as gopro (170?)
-battery is removable and rechargeable
-the whole kit comes with camera/2 stick on mounts/1 goggle mount/battery/remote with wrist strap/USB cable
check them out, they make a good product.

they have some new stuff coming down the pike like WiFi and a rechargeable remote that has an LED that lets you visually know its recording. i saw in the shop section they have a promo code for getting $100 worth of free accessories and if you put in promo code: boston2012, youll get $30 off your order. if you plan on going to the ski show, swing by and chat with them. they have a show price of $200 for the camera...thats 50% off. its worth the drive over and the $10 to get in.
