Hey guys,

For those of you that know from my postings at ODFU I will be making my racing debut this year.

Not really sure what the plan is for some other ODFUers, so it could just be me ...

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to it. Getting the bike ready this winter (going to GMD this weekend).

I'm not sure what to expect yet come that first weekend, but I'm excited.

I believe some of you will be at VIR too, so please introduce yourself (i'm the goofy looking bastard (see av) with the 600rr).

So you'll be racing with me at Loudon most likely too, at least for the first weekend until I move up.

I started in the 600 class. I never had an issue. Anyone who tells you different probably didn't start in the 600 class. With a 600cc bike as a novice you can be competitive in 9 or 10 races, this is good for experience.

I've been riding for three years, but the past two have been alot of track days at loudon.

I think I have alittle over 1000 miles on the loudon track (if I did my math right). That is all track days though ... which I expect is nothing like what racing will be.

Novice 600 class has been known as the suicide 600 long before last year's tragedy.

I think it has to do with the number of bikes and the average age of riders in that class producing more than it's share of crashes.

Markus asked how the 600 class was for NEW RIDERS, I gave him my honest opinion. Granted my choice of words weren't exactly formed w/ the Almeida family in mind as Jay pointed out & for that I'm sorry... I didn't really think my words through & stuck my foot in my mouth there, but my opinion still holds true. I've heard the 600 class called many things, but i've never heard it called "safe"... Markus is new to riding pavment & I think you guys are overlooking that fact. New riders don't belong in that class w/o alot of prior experience like you guys all had before you all got into racing as far as I know.

If you guys wanna convince a 16 year old kid w/ zero street miles under his belt that the 600 class is safe for him because he's got dirt experience, go right ahead.... just be prepared for the worst & don't bitch to me when you're yappin away about all the newbies out there that don't know what they're doing, are getting in your way, slowing you down & making the track unsafe for everyone out there.

With that said, it's pretty well known that I haven't even started racing yet, so lemme know, am I right or wrong here? Jay? Naz? Gerard? Dan seems to agree.... I have no doubts that Jamie will do well in the class, but do you guys honestly think the 600 class is safe for a rider like Markus???

i agree with dan... it aint called the suicide 6 class for nothing. Jay you know how it is out there. thats a big grid. whether its NV, AM, or EX. you might not have noticed since you were towards the front so you really only deal with the guys that know what they are doing until you hit lappers but by then they are spread out a little. but when you are in the middle of that clusterfuck it can be tough.

when i lined up for the LWGP race with almost 30 riders... being in the middle of that was hard. especially since i started from dead last.

just keep your wits about you in that class. especially if your not towards the front where the experience is. it sometimes looks like a trackday with no rules out there

well one of my goals is too get out of the NV class ASAP, because, like you guys have pointed out as well, you just hear alot of stories about it.

at this point though, i have no idea what the field is going to be like, or how I will mount up. It shall be a learning experiance ... (=

As a Novice I rode in:

Heavyweight Supersport (2nd)
Middleweight Supersport (4th)
Lightweight Supersport (1st) and
Ultralight Superbike (1st)


Yea. MWSS and HWSS were definately a bit more 'interesting' and I'm glad I just did them as one offs. Just keep your head up boys.

don't be so quick to want to get out of the NV class--it exists for a damn good reason!!! AM races are faster + more competitive + you're expected to know much more about racing!! If you can't hack it with the NV meatballs in the 600 class then you don't belong any higher! that goes for anyone! + yes there are definately a few meatball squids in that class!!!!

well considering the fact that you need to complete 10 races before moving up to AM, that seems like a good deal of race time.

i'm obviously setting a goal, but i haven't been in a race, so I really don't know what to expect. Everything could change for me after the first race weekend, which I understand

only time will tell I guess ...

I know quite a bit about 600's you cockjockey---remember, I go out in practice on my fzr400 + smoke most of the 600's,especially you,you slow ass lame monkey fucker!!! although the faster guys do pull away from me on the straights,I pass them again in the turns! + there are only a handful of 600 riders that I can't pass!

I know I'm better than + faster than the majority of 600 riders + to prove it that is why I want to race Jaysogood on an even bike--the sv650--this year, because he is one of the top 5 fastest 600 riders in NV--we both ride 929's 0n the street + seem to be about equal!!

I was thinking we could have a mock race in practice on thurs or friday on the sv's + Alex could run with us on his hawk cause he's kinda fast too!
I'm not sure when I'm gonna bump up yet--sometime this year but I want to drop another 4 seconds or so 1st
trackdogs bike is all about momentom/cornerspeed--you'll need some practice on that but if you get that thing going fast, I'll bet you'll turn that 600 cornerspeed a lot faster!
