New Michelins for 2006

Michelin has released several new tires for the 2006 season.

DOT -

There is a new Power Race PR front we called the PR-C. It is a soft compound DOT that was run but a limited number of Michelin riders last year with excellent results. It will now be put into the normal supply line and is available now.

The Power Race rear will now also come in a 190/55-17. Based on feedback in 2005, Michelin is developing a 55 series tire to help with absorption and cooling of the air chamber on longer tracks. The 190/50-17 will still be sold. The 190/55-17 is testing right now with Walt and should be ready for widespread release shortly. It should be available in all three compounds.

Supermotard -

Michelin in 2004 released just one compound of SM tire. In 2006, you now have THREE choices.

SMF15A - durable front
SMF17A - soft front
SMR14A - durable rear
SMR22A - soft rear.
Full Rain front
Full Rain rear

You will still need the proper machine to run these tires. A 5-5.5" rear rim is needed to fit these tires properly. All the current SMR's we see will mount these, but the rider still running converted dirt machines may have trouble with chain clearence issues. These are all 16/63-17 rears. The fronts are all 12/60-17.

The rains are the same as the big-bore 18/67-17 new style Turbine type rain. They are just in a 16/63 size.

Mini-Motards

For the riders who race mini-motards like the KLX110, Michelin has greatly increased the sizes available for many of its scooter tires, including the race-worthy Pilot Sport SC. They have also increased their tube line to help fit some odd sized wheels.

That's it!
