Hey Saxman!!!

Yeah I looked at that and realized that the two races I did years ago (2002) counted. They were the last weekend of the season after I took the Penguin school. I did them on a rented ex500. Boy that killed my index! I need to get my times down alot more before I could come close to a 0.5 index in Amateur. Must focus , must focus ..........

Hey Saxman!!!

I'm guessing DNF's really hurt the whole index thing. Ouch, I'm glad I now have a working fuel pump.

Hey Saxman!!!

DNF's do NOT count as a race, therefore do NOT count against your index. It's in the rulebook.... I've entered 6 races this year but have one DNF... if you look at that sheet it'll say i've only done 5 races and it didn't hurt my index.

Interesting! So technically if I'm doing crappy in a race and it would hurt my index, I could just ride off track and say my bike has broken down? It makes sense, because it says I've only done 4 races.

Hey Saxman!!!

well, i talked with Paul and he thinks I should move up

i'm going to make the move up (not sure how to do so offically).

I'll be running about mid pack when I move up, but hopefully surrounding myself with better riders will help me improve.

Hey Saxman!!!

Email LRRSracing@aol.com

write " Don, I'd like to advance to AM."

Then hope he doesn't forget to advance you so that when you pre register for your races a month in advance you're not dead last on the grid because "oops I forgotted".

Moving up is the best way to get better. Besides, riding with Novices sucks.

Hey Saxman!!!

i'm looking forward to it

i do feel that I am smooth and predictable enough to be there ... will not be the fastest out there, but atleast people will be able to pass me without having to worry about me making a stupid move

Don't forget about the scared factor. You're going to be on the track with Scott Greenwood, Jeff Wood and others that will be passing you at Mock 3. That's going to take some getting used to.

Hey Saxman!!!

I just made the move to AM too.
I personally feel Novice is where to be until you click off a 1.19 lap time or so.
AM are running 16's to 20's to be competitive.
I learned alot over last season in Novice, now I'm ready to try and run with the faster group.

Now I just gotta find Sampsons slow parts of the track

i am more concerned about my safety as you experianced first had last weekend.

but more importantly, i feel I can learn more and learn quickly being in the amatuer group ...

i'm sure some people don't agree with me moving up so quickly, but i more apt to take the advice from a LRRS vet

this is only my first year ... i'm not looking to be out front just yet, but if I have the chance to surround myself with better riders, i'm going to take that opportunity
