RS125

My GOD is today going slow. I pick up the RS125 tomorrow at 2pm. Tonight has got to be the longest night I've had in a while. Ahh well. Cross your fingers everyone, I'm hoping the bike is as promised, complete, straight and in perfect running condition. Only thing it needs is a windscreen that I've been told. Too bad for me, I missed the Aug 29th early signup date for the TTD. I'll still be there, though!

I've got my shopping list for racing pretty much filled at this point. I want to sign up for the Penguin school after the next TTD, so I can have some seat time.

the bike is now mine.

after work, I'm gonna spend some time going over it. the right peg and clipon are slightly bent, but other than that she looks perfect.

I cannot get over how light this thing is. I also cannot wait to ride it.

Congrats man. Looks great.

Penguin School the 11th.
Racing the 12th and 13th.

Really, riding around all morning in slow follow-the-leader sessions followed by a afternoon of Open ones.. all the 'git used to the bike' time you'll need.

Wait till the 29th? bah humbug.

Yeah guys, I know, Jamie has been ragging on me to just race asap. Truth is, I dont even have gas or oil for it yet! It had some fumes, so I pop started it and it ran for about 30 seconds. Made me smile. I've also decided to weld up my own starter tool for like $5. Yeah yeah, lazy, but it sure beats running along with a bike in this weather.

I have no idea what jets I've got, and unfortunately, I didnt get any spares. I need to take them out and look. I'll need to grab some and get my base line so I can fill in the chart.

Yeah that's my dad's garage. 30x48', heated. Its about 2 miles from my house, and its got a lift, for those of us with non-2-wheeled vehicles. It was a sweet deal, he put the building up, I bought the lift. sweet deal! Its the workshop for everything, and man is it nice.

Oh, and the clip on is so barely bent its not even noticable.. it was rotated some on the fork.. all fixed. I also have the bible(tm), so I'm happy with it.

Still have no idea which fairing is on it, but its got a steep bubble curve to it. I won't need a windscreen for trackdays or racing will I? I'll bring the damn fairing with me for the 12-13 weekend to show Steve from Rising Sun. Maybe he can get me some jets too. Paul, are there any middle of the road jets I should get, or just like a whole set?

You *could* put a 175 in it and run it all year, but you really want to have from a 158 to a 180. If they sell a kit with all the jets/needles/pilots that would really be best, even though there's a bunch of stuff you won't use in there.

Learning to tune for the weather is eventually important.

Yeah its ready to go. All i need is fuel. It's got micheling slicks on it now, but they feel a little hard. They're possibly hard compound, and they're also ice cold still, so I'll try them easy and see. The power races I've got on the R6 are kinda hard to the touch when they're cold, but they're Jamie's soft race take offs from the first race weekend. We'll see, I'll work up to a decent pace, i think I'll order a set of Dunlops first and bring them with me just in case. Ahh well we'll see.

Pete, you and Clayton should start looking for used 125s NOW. It's a really great step up from the EX and a lot cheaper than the next faster option... (600, superbike SV, or big Ducati)

Go with a hawk! I think it's even better than a 125!

Hawk, Pshhht! It's a cheap copy of a 125!

In 95 they made a huge leap in development, curing a terrible vibration problem that was cracking exhausts and frames etc.

They also went to upsidedown forks, in increased the output of the now smoother motor. Besides, parts for those pre-95 bikes are NLA. They are virtually worthless to an active racer.
