Don't forget about ice tires on 'em!

I'm waiting to get the MRI results but as far as i can tell i'll be back racing on the 22nd They said it was a dislocated knee and patella. My knee cap just settled back into place on saturday i think so thats a good sign because before that it was floating around a bit. Thanks for asking

I can race it in a good amount of classes at LRRS. Then i can toss the the dirty wheels on it for some weekend off roading. They crash better than anything on the track. And over the winter im gonna make mine street legal so i can be a hooligan legally. Besides riding a motard makes you feel like a pirate.....Arrrggh!

I have a question for all you guys who think a motard does everything. If you get a motard set up to actually go fast at loudon, will you really be able to do any actual dirtriding without swapping suspension along with wheels? I don't see any evidence of dirt on any fast motards...

And STREET! C'mon, who is streeting their racebikes?

I have a 2nd set of stock forks/clamps that swap in ten minutes. Stock shock is a quick exchange as well.

I keep the stock brake caliper/brake line/master all together so thats an easy switch too.

Fender comes off in 2 seconds.

I am not the fastest track or dirt rider, so take this for whatever you think its worth - my DRZ is the SM model, and came with a lowered suspension. It has lots of suspension for the track, which is very welcome in spots like T3 at Loudon, as well as on some of the twisties with crappy pavement.

I just got the bike all set up for dirt with a different set of wheels and tires - I put the stock SM model rotors on the dirt wheels, so I dont even have to change the caliper when I swap. I was initially pretty worried about the lowered suspension in the dirt, especially given I'm 230 lbs.

I've ridden it pretty hard, and done lots of woods riding, and it has never yet bottomed out. It is just about a perfect suspension for woods riding.

I also have a street-legal dirt bike, which is always cool.

So, my long-winded answer is yes, I think you can have a suspension setup that works pretty well both in the dirt and on the track.

If you saw my motard right now you'd be ashamed of me. It's been covered in mud since Friday.

Nice! I guess I'm wrong about the set-up being a bit different from track to dirt. Rock on...

I forgot what bike number and who it is but there is a expert on a KTM 525 that races it, has it street registered and dirt rides it

I've got my wheel swap times down to less than 20 minutes, that's from a Motard to a dirtbike ot vise versa

Recently ... it's more due to the fact that most of the motard orgs have yet to learn what a complete prick you are ... and the fact that you were a complete loser at the high speeds of roadracing ... and due to the fact that you buy a new bike every 6 months because you can't face the fact that your only talent is working as a circus migdet at childrens parties.

Curio do you race in LRRS? Who are you? I've met most of the racers on this board yet you are a complete mystery. Maybe it's because you are the most negative person i have come across in a while. And thats saying something cause i hang out with chad at the track. If you hate adam that much just PM him. I'm sick of your bullshit negative comments. If you have something positive to add or want to participate in the fun we have here great. your endless stream of hate for Vella is just annoying. If you want people to hate him as much as you do you are failing. I understand that you feel wronged by him but now your dragging your fight into our fun. If you wanna beat the crap out of him i don't care one way or the other, but please just go find him and do it! Stop dragging everyone one else into your shit!! I swear you'll get more satisfaction out of kicking his ass than you will by whining about it. [/Rant]

wouldnt a motard handle better if you lowered it? i mean the suspension that you run must be 3X what you actually need/use. why not lower it and maybe put some drag bars or clubman bars or even clip ons on it? just wondering?

usually they are lowered, just not much. The extra suspension is for actually super-moto (where they do dirt and jumps) not just road-racing. Then again, those forks compress a lot when under braking.

One guy, 'Buzz' put clip-ons on his 426 a few years ago, didn't work out as he hoped.

I see you never met Webdouche. Oh well someday you'll get what it's all about or just ask why he can't race anywhere! Learn who your sticking up for before you say shit like that.

I peeked at Mike's hidden post and now I have to reply.

Mike, 99% of the people who think I'm a prick have never met me, and the saying goes--you can't make everyone happy.

So sure, I can be a jerk online, I'm sure many of you can say the same thing, but at least I am adding a positive contribution to questions and topics at hand (compared to you popping out of the woodwork to just bash me).

At the track I've been known to be very helpful to anyone in need.

You know, like when I installed a set of forks for you PROPERLY and FREE because you didn't know how.

Or when I revalved BentBryan's forks for him at GMD's shop which saved him a lot of money.

Or when I've loaned out my motard to others who wanted to see what it was like on the track.

Numerous times I've helped other reassemble bikes after crashes, given away parts, lent out spares, helped out hurt riders, the list can go on and on, etc, etc.

But like I said, my list of good deeds continues to grow, and the best you can do is say how everyone hates me.

But 99% of the people who have any contact with you whatsoever - not only think you're a prick - but they also know that you are a scheming conniving dishonest prick as well. And there is nothing more fun than taking 5 minutes to gather race results or other evidence, then proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that you were full of shit. The funniest one was when you ran from forum to forum bragging about winning a motard race. I checked the results and found out that you were the only expert in the expert race, and that half the amateurs had laptimes faster than you. You ran away from that thread faster than you ever did in a race. Then there was the time you were fishing for compliments on 'earning' your first 5th place plaque in a CCS race. I checked the results - and found out that there were only 5 guys in the race. You sure as hell were mad when I published that little jewel.

... then there was the time you made fun of a racer's dad who had passed away the day before.

You're not trying to be helpful - you're trying to impress the squids so that they will kiss your fat ass. You spin every thread back to your "career" so that the 19 year-olds think you're the shit.

No one ever turns down another racer for help during a race weekend - so stop acting like your the original good Samaritan.

Like when you promised to give all your race win proceeds to the children of Camp Sunshine. what happened??? Kinda easy to promise to give to charity in the hopes of getting sponsors - when you know you have no chance of winning anything.
