6hrs of Summit Point

Clayton, David, Darrell & I are lookin into the possibility of doin an endurance race & we're wondering what tips you guys have as far as gettin things done right & what we can expect while we're down there (other than the obvious)

Any solid helpful advice regarding bike prep, rider prep, race prep, gettin on the track & doing things in the pits is appreciated.

Prep the bike right. Train the riders well. Do the pitstops quick and right. Get on the track and win.

Bring some white GE silicone caulking.

Sometimes other organizations want bolts glued, they like white to be able to see it is done. Silicone is acceptable.

Get there with enough time to sleep before entering the racing surface.

Good luck bro! Summitt is one of the tracks I need to go to.

Have enough spares to rebuild the bike available in the pits. If you break a clipon, or a rearset, or need to drill and zip tie bodywork you want to have everything set and you'll be able to stay in the race.

Considering your preperation at loudon I'd say having the bike running when the race starts or being on pre-grid before everyone else has already put down 2 laps would be an accomplishment.

Practice your motor swaps at home til you can do it in 30 minutes. Bring a good spare motor. Strip EVERYTHING from the bike that slows this process.

Work on making quick release fitting for your gas tank, and have two tanks and just swap them instead of filling during the stop.

I think on an EX, one set of tires will go 6 hours. But 90 minute stints may not be the fastest way. 60 minute stints with some planned rider change only pit stops might be faster.

Put FRESH brake pads and fluid in before the race.

Have clear roles for the crew, and clear signals for the rider.

Either way, it WILL be the most fun you ever had racing!

very cool. be curious to hear if they still have the concrete strips on the line in T1 and throughout the carousel like they did in '99. assuming you're running the big track you'll be WFO from T2 to the entrance to the carousel on anything like a EX (or the Hawk I raced there loooooong ago). have a blast

Great tips... Thanks Paul

Rules don't allow swapping gas tanks, otherwise we'd do that w/ one of the 50 EX500 gas tanks we have available to us Oh well, it was a good idea
