I have looked at the rulebook, just wanted to get an idea of the bikes people actually run.
I mean I am told I shouldn't run the Hawk in these classes but I am looking for more than one race on Saturday and from what I see in the rules I 'could" run these.

Unless I am wrong....

Then again if i am just going to get smoked in the novice class in these races then what is the point.

Nevermind, I just went to the results page. All GSXRRF4ZX's

Although the lap times range from
1:20- 1:43 MWSS
1:20- 1:40 MWSB
1:19- 1:39 STWN/MWGP

For comparison Classes I have been told to run in.
LWSS 1:23- 1:33
GTL 1:24- 1:39
LWSB et al 1:21- 1:38
LWGP 1:20- 1:29

Rookie Race
1:26- 1:44

I have some work to do! Target lap of a 1:30 and I will be in the mix.

ya got LWSS on Sat, that's it.... MAYBE MWSS if you don't mind killing your index. But it looks like in the first MWSS race of last year, most of the bottom 3rd of the field was in the 1:30-35 range.

You want to race your 88 hawk against a 2007 R6? Read the books again. You can race an EX in the UNSB class while you're at it.

Just for clarification. There are classes I "can" race and classes I should race.

I am all for taking the advice of those who have come before me and are wise. (hence my asking all the stupid questions of a NOOB)

I was just looking for a way to get a little more tracktime on saturday. 3 on sunday is more than enough.

I guess I could run the 900ss....

thats why i didnt bump up last year. the schedule favors the AM/EX racers as most of their races are on sat. that left me (if i was a AM LW racer) with 1 race that i could do (and be competitive in) on sun. this year i get 2

I'm all for up-classing as a Novice. You get track time and race experience. I wouldn't do it right away... but when you are finishing in the top of your "competitive" classes you'll do okay with the bigger bikes to.

A.Dunstan
Novice
88 Hawk
4th in MWSS
2nd in HWSS

Okay just being a Pain-in-the-Ass.. Unless you are running easy 24's or less I do not recommend running Novice MWSS classes or up on a underpowered bike. I wanted to bump up quicker so I entered those races and got lucky.

Doc: You will have PLENTY of tracktime doing 3 races a weekend + practices. You need to take a Prozac, or a walk. You will be a on-track HAZARD entering those races other than the ones you have already been advised to enter at this point in your 'career'. Fact is you are a complete noob and honestly.. 1:30's in any class on any bike (cept ptwins) is not competitive (top 5), even as a Novice.

Get up there in April and May, take a Conservative Approach, then re-evaluate your options and what you'd like to do with your 1st Hand Knowledge.

FYI Supertwins is on Sunday, not Saturday. http://www.lrrsracing.com/2007/2007_daily_schedule.pdf

seriously. run 3 races, finish 3 races, get out there in all your practices, have a good safe FUN first weekend, get used to things then get fancy.

*disclaimer - i'm probably running sat's MWSS race so i can bump if i decide i want to.

1. Don't want to nor intend to be a hazard.
2. Prozac is for depression, I think the med you were looking for is Ritalin.
3. I do not expect to be in the top 5. I will be happy if I am in the middle (at this point in my "career")
4. I will stop asking stupid noob questions and just try to learn as much as I can at the track. Pardon me for trying to learn BEFORE my first weekend.

I am not talking about the first weekend. Hell I will most likely only run 1 race each day just so i am not overwhelmed (unless my Ritalin perscription is working).
I just am trying to understand what I could POTENTIALLY in run IF my lap times (and I) were good enough to not be a Hazard, sometime in the future.

Doc nothing wrong with asking questions, but you ask the same questions repeatedly and/or ask questions that have answers directly in front of you.

I know how it is, I spent the months of Jan - May of 2005 doing the exact same thing.

You can run your bike in EVERY class at Loudon except:
-------------------------
125GP
Motard
Supersingles
Production Twins
Supersport classes

The Rulebook states as much. Spend some quality time looking over the Laptimes and Results of the Classes you Wish to Enter, compare them to what you are doing or what you think you are capable of doing, and VOILA, question answered.

1:30's are a fine laptime and a great goal. That was my exact goal for 2005 as well. I thought I read that you said 1:30 seemed Competitive, just letting you know that reality is that's a bit off the pace for the Front Guys in Novice. Gotta crawl before you walk thou.

No one wants you to have fun more than I do, who's been answering your questions all over the internet? (HawkGTforum, MABE forum, NESR forum, NEAR List)

Also spend a good amount of time each Weekend WATCHING other races. I spend as much time watching other classes as I do racing each weekend. If you want to run in MWSS, then watch Novice MWSS and see how the ride, what other 'slow' bikes are out there (always a SV somewhere), how do they manage, how the middle of the pack is doing? All those things. Get to know the guys who ride similar times/bikes as you. If Johnny #45435 is a guy you are always battling with, how's he doing in other classes (if applicable). Things like that.

Lets take some Ridilin together!

Sorry, the ritalin isn't working, gotta up my dose.

Glad I am not the first.

Have done but I look to you guys for clarification. I guess I should state that. Got a rulebook right here btw.

I plan on crawling, "You will be amazed how slow I am"
