Safety wire ??

So the local bike shop is out of safety wire. What size/gauge can I use and will it be acceptable wire for a track day at VIR inspection crew?

I want to get this done asap so I was hoping I can get this at Home Depot or an Ace Hardware store. Anyone thing the correct gauge picture hanging wire will work?
Thanks,
Mike

the picture hanging stuff doesn't work. some jack ass at the local suzuki shop suggested i use that when i first started racing last year. i bought a roll and it was useless. the stuff is to brittle, not enough flex. use the correct stuff. .032 for most everything and/or .020. for the smaller stuff

I'm going to a beginner track day June 7. I have a clamp on the oil filter but as far as I know, there's no drill and safety wire... As far as I can tell, if your oil drain bolt is tightened and the oil filter clamped... it should be ok for a beginner track day, right??

Sears Hardware always has a couple different sizes in stock. Pricey..but in a pinch, it's there.

I bought what I found at Loews but it is still too brittle...
I will see about getting some tomorrow unless somebody locally has some laying around they do not need???

DAGNABBBBIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTT.. I am so close to completing the bike for VIR it's killing me...

My tires just showed up tonight, so now I have to get them mounted up in a hurry... Hopefully Performance can turn them around for me as fast as they ussually do...

I assume you're talking about the Tony's Track Day on June 7? If so, then the oil filter is all that needs to be secured.

See the site for details on bike prep requirements.

I went to just about everywhere looking for some safety wire and people looked like I had 2 heads. I eventually got some 19 guage stainless steel wire from an autoparts store. It's a bit thick but it'll do the job until I can get the right size.
