almost time for a top end rebuildSo between VIR, Tony's track days and racing, I've got 280 miles on the rebuild, so basically after Friday practice I'll need to do a top end. Not worried about it, but I don't have any extra base gaskets! Hopefully they either arrive by the time I leave for the track or Steve from RSC has some up there. This race log stuff is kinda cool. I'm still trying to figure out a better/neater way than scribbling in my notebook, but it works for now. |

almost time for a top end rebuildI wrote a stupid little web-app for myself to keep service records. Much better than my old way, which ended up with a notebook smeared with grease. |

almost time for a top end rebuildRe-use the basegaskets 2 or three times at least. Maybe even until they rip. It doesn't seem to change the squish much at all. if it gets a little tighter that's probably good. BTW, Measure the squish this time! |

almost time for a top end rebuildi'll have solder beads in hand and a vernier caliper to measure, when I do the top end, for sure. Good news about the reuse of gaskets.. at least something on this bike is reusable other than the rider and the smile. |

almost time for a top end rebuild.025-.029 is the desired range. Make sure the lead is directly above the wristpins. tighter makes more compression/torque, but looser revs more freely, so it's a balancing act. |

almost time for a top end rebuildit sticks to your shit and you have to clean it up. I just use a legth of solder wire bent at 90 degrees inserted through the plug hole. Takes ten seconds to do... |
