almost time for a top end rebuild

So between VIR, Tony's track days and racing, I've got 280 miles on the rebuild, so basically after Friday practice I'll need to do a top end. Not worried about it, but I don't have any extra base gaskets! Hopefully they either arrive by the time I leave for the track or Steve from RSC has some up there.

This race log stuff is kinda cool. I'm still trying to figure out a better/neater way than scribbling in my notebook, but it works for now.

I wrote a stupid little web-app for myself to keep service records. Much better than my old way, which ended up with a notebook smeared with grease.

Re-use the basegaskets 2 or three times at least. Maybe even until they rip. It doesn't seem to change the squish much at all. if it gets a little tighter that's probably good. BTW, Measure the squish this time!

i'll have solder beads in hand and a vernier caliper to measure, when I do the top end, for sure. Good news about the reuse of gaskets.. at least something on this bike is reusable other than the rider and the smile.

"The Racer's Logbook" or something. Street and Comp has em at the track.

.025-.029 is the desired range. Make sure the lead is directly above the wristpins. tighter makes more compression/torque, but looser revs more freely, so it's a balancing act.

Reading Pauls and Neals posts makes me want a 125! Maybe if I lose 40 lbs.

it sticks to your shit and you have to clean it up. I just use a legth of solder wire bent at 90 degrees inserted through the plug hole. Takes ten seconds to do...
