Fuel so far?

After all the bitching about VP, prices, lines, testing etc before the season started how has it been so far?

Has VP done a good job?

Has LRRS been doing random testing? Anyone busted?

Just curious...

All the bikes that placed in the dash for cash were tested. All passed!!! I don't know of any other testing and I didn't here of anyone failing, so I ASSUME everyone is running VP. (HAHAHA, I crack myself up).

I do know that they were being nice for the first weekend!!!! I'm sure there will be some testing done next time.

The great irony of it all is that VP ended up paying contingency money to all the superbike classes that necessitated the rule in the first place, while screwing all the lightweight classes where everyone was running pump gas and didn't need to be regulated.

Other than that, it's a minor annoyance having to drain the tank after trackdays and dragging around a stupid can of fuel that doesn't have a vent valve and ends up blowing up in your face every time you open it.

In conclusion, thanks for nothing VP. Suck it.

Darrell, who said you have to drain the tank after every race weekend???? dude, it's not corrosive, you can leave it in there

Additionally, VP is paying contingency, Novice through Expert, in lightweight classes... not all, but most. So drop a few more seconds, race LWSM and GTL and you'll be eligible for contingency. Pull off a 6th place finish & you just spent LESS on gas that weekend than you did last year & you've still got some left over to put in your car

huh? i collected contingency fro the first weekend and I'm on a lightweight.... supersport even. From my finishes this past weekend I will collect more. Cost me $7 for the 5 gallons of gas I bought after the payout. Barely used any, so effectivly it cost me $7 to fill up my streetbike.

As far as draining the tank, I'm guessing you mean that you are running pump gas for track days and need to drain it for race weekends? Seriously, are you telling us that if you bought 5 gallons of gas on a race weekend you wouldn't have any let over for a track day?? I've never ran an EX but I'm guessing all 30 hp doesn't drink that much gas.

As far as your gas can, what country did you buy it in that you couldn't get one with a vent? I know a lot of the new cans you can buy at wal mart etc don't have vents by design but the old ones are easy enough to find. Do you want one? I can count five under my deck right now.

Beyond that, I have to echo Pete (god i regret that). Go out, put in the laptimes and take the contingency. I'm not privy to the rules and what can or can't be done... but I know VP has the easiest contingency to get your hands on. Seriously, if this was tires, finishing in 6th place would get you like 25 cents.

Okay, I'm off my soapbox. I've talked to you a few times at the track and your a great guy but I don't know why you are so hellbent on this gas thing. Everytime you post about it I want to run out and buy you a tree to hug.

The wait isn't as bad as I expected it to be but it is still far longer than I would like to stand around to give someone my money. Then again, the pre reg line took about as long, maybe a little longer.

I cornerworked sunday, kip is fast. Sorry we woke you up late saturday night, I wanted to go to bed but I was steered to the other camper. I think my eye candy had something to do with that.

I suggest you take up knitting. There is no "Spec Yarn" as far as I know.

I found That getting the gas Was easy if you picked your times.

I also found the fuel only works if you put it in the bike.

The Vp Guys Said they laughing at me as I rolled past them With my arm in the AIR out of Gas

My gas light went on in lap 2 of our GranPrix race... I was almost afraid to wind the bike out haha. The weight reduction must have been why I ran my best laps

What's got you so invested in this spec fuel deal that you feel the need to belittle everyone who speaks out against it?

The thread was about people's thoughts on spec fuel now that it's been implemented, not "let's all have a giant VP/LRRS circlejerk and talk about how wonderful they are".

The problem is ... you don't talk about it, you just complain. You complained about the helmet thing, you complained about the practice thing, you complained about the fuel thing. Nothing that has been done has been approved or atleast provoked quality discussion. Its always been the "who's making out from this deal" type of conversation.

Gas is $3.05 for 87 .. you are whining about $.45/gallon ... come on now

in addition, this is not a VP thing ... LRRS went to VP to be the supplier ... you are eligible for contengecy as well, as you bike fits into some of the classes that are being paid out.

I didn't read it as complaining. The thread asked what racers thought following the new spec fuel rules, and Darrell replied with his thoughts.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

The new practice sucks! I have to be on the track at 8:00. There is no way i can make it after the lines at registration, fuel, tires and anything else that I may have to do on saturday morning since everything is closed by time I can get there friday night. I was up before 6 this weekend and still couldn't make my practice. And when i get to expert i get a whole extra 10 minutes. Can I go back to novice?

My bike fits into almost all the classes that are paid out, what's your point? Maybe they don't need to pay out MWSS either, right? I mean, come on, your bike fits into HWSS what's the problem?

And for the record, I never "complained about the practice thing". I did make a post on NEAR after the second race weekend stating that I preferred two practices on sunday, and giving reasons for that. Maybe if you weren't so goddamn eager to post up how happy you are about everything LRRS does and how wonderful they are for doing it, you'd have time to read what I write. Just because my opinions don't agree with yours doesn't mean I don't state my reasons for them.

And finally, the great helmet debate. How many other tracks have followed LRRS's lead and banned polycarbonate helmets? None? Guess we're just ahead of our time. And I don't think LRRS was making out from banning them, I just thought they were jumping to ridiculous conclusions based on specious reasoning. And still do.

In conclusion, I couldn't give a damn whether you appreciate me speaking my opinions. In fact, maybe the only reason I post them is to piss you, Alex, and Pete off, since god knows it does for anyone to post a negative opinion about LRRS around here. Gotta balance out the scales a bit.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, racing at loudon is a blast, it's great to get up there and hang out with everyone. And I'd probably do it even if they were charging us 25.00 a gallon for stupid race fuel. EXs don't use much gas and it is, at most, a minor annoyance.

But they (VP, LRRS, whatever) is making me buy their stupid MS93 crap that I don't need or want and I figure that gives me the right to tell VP that they can suck it. And even if it doesn't, I'm going to anyway because this is the internet and it's in the constitution that I can tell anyone to suck it that I want. Fuck you, VP. I don't want your stupid crap and I'm not putting your stickers on my bike. I know you care, I know the loss of advertisement from a novice PTWN rider running slow laptimes hurts you deep down within your soul. I know your marketing executives cry themselves to sleep at night knowing that somewhere, on the internet, some guy on a shitty bike doesn't like your stupid fuel or your stupid gas cans. And that is why I do it, VP, because I don't like you and I like to see you cry. Suck it VP, suck it long and suck it hard.

Oh man, that felt good.

Those blue cans suck to pour out of too in addition to the venting issue. KB was nice enough to wash off my bike and grid possitions with VP93.

"it's just gas!"

It's just gas covering my bike!

Here's a tip. Get to the track at a reasonable hour on friday night and get squared away. Tires and registration and tech can all be done on friday till like 7:30.

Silly boy step it up.
