that crash was insane....i had lowsided in 4 the lap before that and was sitting right by the ambulance when the guy went down. after the bike blew up bud durgin (who was shooting right next to me) started running toward it, turned around to me "and you thought YOU were having a rough day" and kept going haha.

it was weird scraping piles of melted plastic off the pavement. I felt so bad for the guy.

If I end up with a new R6 I'll definitely be getting these sliders. I figure the only reason they are so expensive is because people will pay it to protect their bike. You could argue price about any race part, the markup is insane...but you pretty much HAVE to have it if you want to race.

I know the feeling of watching your bike go up. I had my 900RR got hit by someone in a parking lot. Long story short, when I tried to start it, I noticed some smoke coming from under the tank. I looked and there was fire. I turned off the key and jumped off. Before I could even do anything it was up in smoke. insurance is a beautiful thing, but I doubt that guy had it on a race bike. Its a thing of horror to watch your bike melt to the ground. The accident report even said "bike was removed with the exception of metal parts that were welded to the pavement"

i've been wondering how interchangeable the parts are between the 07 and 08 models. they look similar but i know they changed quite a bit, including a new frame....guess it just depends on how much they've changed.

why isn't Yamaha doing something for their customers and providing a safer alternative gas tank or a set of sliders?

that's kinda bad press, no?

Good Point.... If I had one I'd write them a letter and ask. At least a set of sliders wouls be a good idea. Heck The government should be regulatin' on their asses. Can happen on the street as easily as on the track. Especially when you add a heapin spoonful of squid.
