Re: The Great R6 Build

James,

Bike looks great. I've heard good things about the armor bodies. Very nice.

I'll probably go the e-racings route when I get track glass...

Re: The Great R6 Build

Ok in prep for my next piece to arrive I did a few things. The stock exhaust came off.

Was very simple to do. Few bolts and it dropped right off very easily. Note that is weighs about 20lbs.

So yesterday after I left the new one arrived.

Its the Leo Vince full Ti system. Very nicely done system. Very light as you can see its about 8lbs. With some simple math I just dropped 12lbs off the bike. It cost a pretty penny but its worth it imo. Should have it on this weekend

Re: The Great R6 Build

The bike has been completed. Still waiting for the shock to arrive. Not a ton of step by step photos. I was running out of time and stopping every step to take a photo really slows things down

Exhaust is on. Full Leo Vince Corsa. Went on pretty easy and it has a great sound to it.

Gearing done. Went 15/48 for the track on this bike.

Chain off

New Front

Rear off

New rear sprocket

Back together with slack set right and wheels aligned

Body work mount. This is armor bodies. The fit we pretty much dead on. Very little trimming to do. Just some to get the dzus fasteners right.

That is awsome for sure. It is very cool to be able to do that financially. I know I am envious of it, and sure a bunch of others are to.

What was the stock gearing 16\44?

Do you ever see any money from Pete, or do you pay him to work there

The vortex is what Pete ordered for me. I asked and I guess they dont have the same soft butter problems they used to. I also have a set coming in for the RC. Ill find out how well they are made.

The stock gearing is 16/45

ok question #2. what is that green thing at the rear axle? does that work as a cotter pin? if so, any advantages of using that over a standard pin?

Kates safety wire special. He wires a loop into the rear axle to make it easier to remove

Are you going to paint it? Or just leave it at the +5 HP primer color?

Re: The Great R6 Build

Ok the last of the goodies have been installed. I dont have any photos of the installation because it was done at the track in between sessions so time was a factor.

I know a few of you saw us installing this.

Triple clicker by elka.

For those that have never put a shock in the new generation R6 its not difficult but its not easy either. Yamaha didnt leave much space for tools to get in. You have to lift the tank to get at the upper shock mount. The link and the dog bones need to come out as well. It took us about 20 minutes to do.

The shock is much better then the stock one. It was more planted in the rain in the rain and I noticed the rear breaking loose less. I have yet to ride it in the dry but so far its a large improvement.

The rapid bike fuel controller also got installed.

A few neat features this offers is a quick shifter.

Yes you can get this with the power commander but you need to buy it and you need the ignition module as well. Its also an option for the rapid bike but its all controlled by one box.

The other really nice feature is a dual map switch.

It pretty much does what its advertised to do. You can toggle maps. Since this bike will see street duty we are running and pump gas map and a race fuel map.

For those that havent seen rain tires. I was running a set of Dunlop rains tires.. Damn things are amazing in the wet.

Re: The Great R6 Build

Got the fairings back yesterday from the painter. All I can say is its the tits. Pictures dont even come close to doing it justice. Its a perfect match to the stock Yamaha color.
