Joe Rocket Suits Local?

I want to pick up a suit but have never tried to get into one.. anyone know anyplace local that carries Joe Rocket that might have something I could actually try on before buying?

Tried searching online but everything seems internet based and I just dont know what size id be.

Looking at the:
GPX Type R 2PC Suit Gunmetal/Black I think size 46 but I dont ant to buy it to see if I was right on the size or not.

Thanks guys! Looking to do some track days at the least.

Re: Joe Rocket Suits Local?

You sure you don't wanna go with another maker for this type of gear?

I have heard not good things about JR stuff.

FWIW: I think Nault's Manch stocks 1 and 2 piece....I think the number's 603.669.7220...might wanna double check that.

If you talk to Herb, tell him his old friend bergs says "Hello".

Re: Joe Rocket Suits Local?

i was looking at astar too but I was told JR is a little bit more roomy. I have some stomach problems so my weight can fluctuate a little bit depending on how sick I am that day or week lol so id like to get into something that might be more forgiving of that.

I saw the gear for $540 which isnt a bad price at all. what would your concerns be with using it?

Maybe look into suit that has some of its flexible panels and/or accordion stretchy panel sections near the midsection?

Rumored poor build quality.

+1

I had a fire-medic go into detail about HIS encounters with MC crashes where JR was worn and, well, let's just say I doubt I'll ever ride JR gear.

Apparently it shreds very easily.

Can't say I have first-hand experience with anything JR but I can say I'll choose listen to someone who's "on the front lines" so to speak.

To each their own, I'm just trying to pass along what I've learned.

Re: Joe Rocket Suits Local?

I am definitely appreciative for any information you guys can give me. Its why im asking here. What would you guys recommend? Not looking to break the back, hoping for something around $600 that is a 2 piece so I can wear the jacket on the street if I dont want to wear any of the ones I already have. Again something that might be more forgiving on 5-15lbs changes in body weight would be nice.

Dunno. Hopefully some experienced folks will chime in on some quality-but-economical leathers.

I have a Kobe Misano 1 piece and I'm very happy with its materials quality.

- Kobe Xpro (1-piece Leathers)

540$ on the Kobe product as well. Is this something that would be able to be found local to try on though? d id you notice them running the same size or smaller than other suits if you tried any others on. I will look into this more tomorrow. Thanks guys!

Re: Joe Rocket Suits Local?

I started with JR Speedmasters(new off ebay $400). Had 2 sets cause I new if I crashed one was getting sent out for repairs. They did protect me in many a crash, but something(shoulder, knee, zipper, ect) always blew out.
Went to Vanson. Sorry I don't have a cheaper alternative. Did hear Moto GP stuff was pretty good for the price.

I'm not sure what levels of
inventory they have now
but I think Greater Boston Motorsports
might have a decent selection

Yep, the JR stuff has more relief that most AStar suits and jackets. While JR is not the highest quality stuff, their leather suits and jackets are pretty beefy and should protect just fine. I think most of their lower quality rep comes from their textile lines.

Re: Joe Rocket Suits Local?

I wear a Joe Rocket Speedmaster suit and I find it to be very comfortable with room to move around in even with my back protector in it. Great suit, no complaints, and the quality is excellent.

GBM is an authorized JR dealer, they're only 18 miles from Lowell, and I'm sure they would work with you to get the right fit, although I'm not sure if they have any suits in stock.

If all else fails, Lean Angle is sponsored by Joe Rocket, and we'd surely be willing to help you. Kevin now is now the Joe Rocket rep in NH and I'm sure he can grab a couple suits for you try on to make sure you get fit right before you order.

It's just a matter of getting with him and trying them on.

You'll have no complaints with Rocket gear.

Well here's the thing....I won the suit in a raffle (I know...pretty sick! I was excited to say the least). I tried it on when I got it and it fit perfectly....the rest is history.

I'm not sure how they run for sizes when compared to other suit makers....I believe mine's a 46 but I'm far away from it at the moment....I'll double check the size when I get home.

If you're about my height/ weight you can certainly give mine a try some time and see how it fits.

I'm about 5'7" and in the 160-ish range though I don't experience the weight fluctuations you mentioned earlier so you'd have too account for that.

I'm a clean kinda guy so don't worry about stank or crabs or anything.

Re: Joe Rocket Suits Local?

I've been very happy with my Fieldsheer 2 piece from MotoXOutlet:

Revo Sport 2-Piece Suits

I haven't gone down in it (fingers crossed I won't ever have to), but it seems very well made, especially given the price. The leather isn't as thick as some of the super high end suits, but it has double leather in all of the main crash areas. It also has more armor in than some of the other suits I looked at (hips, shins, etc).

Re: Joe Rocket Suits Local?

Awesome, although I do like the KOBE design a lot better, I think the 2 piece JR is more the route I should go. Besides its not like im going to test them out anyhow right? (stocks up on helmets)

Now I just have to find some to try on. I might go to the bike show this weekend at the rockingham race track see if they have anything there. Otherwise I have no problem working with Lean Angle if I can get one there. Id love to support someone that supports this site. Who is GMB btw?

Now its just figuring out what to ride but I will start a new thread on that one I think. Thanks guys!

If you're ever in the Derry NH area try Seacoast Sport Cycle and ask for Pat, she knows her stuff. Seacoast Sport Cycle - Home I was there last week and they have a couple different lines of full race suits in stock
