Is there such thing, maybe not at loudon but anywhere around here, that has open track days for street cars? preferably with minimal modifications?

There's Auto Cross and then there's track days.

look up your local SCCA Chapter. SCCA does both. Auto X is like a mini road course... cones in a parkin lot... time trial style, one at a time. Still tons o fun. Then there's track events... they've got em at NHMS, Lime Rock, Watkins Glen etc.

Waiting for Mr. Highsider to chime in. I believe he's still an active SCCA Instructor. As is Scott Major, but he's not around these parts much.... He's too busy showing rich Ferrari owners how to drive their cars

there's a lot of street cars running up at loudon. yea check out the SCCA for starters. a friend at work fruns his tricked out camero with the SCMA and a few other orgs. Street cars are fine though, just like street bikes & trackdays.

i think most of the cars that run in the BMW club (and other expensive car clubs) are right off the street, and they lean more towards time trials so nobody bangs up their car and goes home sad...

I was looking into manufacturer clubs, cause I figured the rich old farts wouldnt wanna dent up their cars too much, but I didnt see a Mercedes one. Since Id be borrowing it, I doubt I wanna bin it into turn 3.

I did a BMWCCA school at NHIS and it was great. Cheap as hell too ($100 or less IIRC). You don't have to be a member of the BMWCCA either!

You can drive pretty much anything, your car just has to be in good (safe) shape. You'll learn a lot and have a great time.

In general, joining a car club will get you some great trackday events for cars. Even if you can't find one specific to the car you have, there are plenty to join, and even a lot of the car-specific ones have lots of members who don't have that particular car.

My buddy is in a mass car club (that was originally created for corvettes, but now most cars in it are not) and he has done track days in spec miatas and his old 1995 audi S6 and his dad's porsche.... at NHIS, Limerock, and Watkins Glen, as well as one up in canada.

Nice, Ian's a great guy to deal with, i do 2 or 3 track days a year in my vette with them...nice organization.....

I was a much better bike racer than car racer but its still fun
