Wild 1st lap SBK action from the Island.....

Anyone catch it today?

What a coincidence after I just posted about the return of Russell to Superbike action the other day. Glad all are OK.

That thing took off like a rocket. And the Kawasaki rider who hit him (hard) broke his arm in the process they said. That's scary as hell on the starting line....

Its funny the first thing youre taught in new racer school is if something goes wrong, throw your arm in the air and wave it like you just dont care, but the pros dont bother. Granted, in this case I dont think it woulda made a difference, and probably since so much moneys on the line they just wanna try to get it started and go, but still, better than a Kawi up your ass.

I'm not sure. I think had he stuck up his hand the whole thing might have been avoided. And what was wrong. At first I thought he stalled but he did seem to be rolling and looking to the his left like he was going to pull off the track...then he got clobbered on the other side.

Well the announcers said the starting grids on a hill, and he did push a bit with his feet, so I think thats why he was moving. But the reason I dont think waving your hand would make a big difference is the rider directly in front of the kawi damn near hit the stalled bike but majorly swerved at the last second, so if anything I think he woulda blocked the kawis view anyway, but who knows, couldnt have hurt much more to have his arm waving around.

How does one of those boots come off??! It takes a lot of work to remove one of those under normal circumstances!

How bout Biaggis crash in race 2? looks like the rear wheel would have cut his leg off at the knee if it had landed on him!

He could have been killed by his bike. Imagine if it landed on his back?

The more I watch that the more I believe that had he waved his arms the whole thing would have been avoided. He was looking over his left shoulder and looking SMALL. I would want to be BIG and obvious.

But...who the fuck knows....

I never did see where his boot went. The big piece that went sailing down the track looked like a piece of fairing...

I think it was the kawis front fender, I saw a fender laying on the track later

Nope. Definitely the boot. During the broadcast, they showed the incident from behind and to the right, and you could see the boot taking off from that angle on DVR slo-mo
