VP Fuel

Question ... how does the VP sales guy sell fuel? Only by the pail or does he have an open 50gal drum that he can pour off into one of your jerry cans? I trying to plan space in the truck and this being the first race weekend for me I have no idea how to prepare against the spec fuel reg. Do you buy a pail and decant to a jerry can?

Thanks for the help guys

Re: VP Fuel

Not sure if VP will be there this year.

I think you just get your gas at the local gas station down the street.

(They sold it both ways last year or you could buy a 50 gallon drum)

Re: VP Fuel

They are not selling the "pump gas" this year. The designated station will be the last one on the right before you get to the track entrance. (Last I heard.) VP will be in the paddock to sell the designated high performance stuff, but will not be around on Sunday in an effort to cut down on the cost of doing business, so get what you need on Friday or Saturday.

Re: VP Fuel

so the last gas station on the right will be selling VP? do you know if they will be selling both C12 and MS93? this spec fuel thing just adds logistics that i bet some feel are a PITA. I may just fill up at my local bike shop with the stuff and call it a day.

thanks guys, appreciate the feedback.

that means no VP MSR93 - he is saying you can get pump gas at the last station on the right and VP at the track

Johnny, does this mean that last years spec rule is out? Or will they only be testing if you are using race gas? A little confused on how this will work now...

Re: VP Fuel

yeah, the logistics are painful.

So it looks like MS93 can be had at the last gas station but for C12 you cannot get it at the gas station and only get it in the pits between friday and saturday night/sunday AM?

Based on what I am hearing I bet only the guys on the block at the ends of the day are the ones running the fuel. In other words I bet there a quite a few blokes like me that will be running pump gas from the local gas station...

Re: VP Fuel

MS93 will no longer be available ... its a VP fuel

The gas station will have their premium blend on the pump, nothing to do with VP

VP will be there selling their performance gas

Re: VP Fuel

NO MS93!!!! VP will have two fuels available at the track FRI & SAT only. C12 & some 100 octane stuff (I forget what it's called). It will be sold it VP containers only, 5 and 15 gal.

Pump gas will be allowed, but only from a yet to be determined gas station close to the track.

Re: VP Fuel

Quote:
All riders must use 93 pump gas or program approved race gas.
93 must be purchased from the LRRS designated gas station.
This is to insure that we can test properly and fairly. Race gas will be supplied
in pails by VP and limited to the program approved fuels C12 or Street Blaze 100.
There will be an LRRS fuel testing program to insure fairness and that every one is in compliance. There could be a fine
imposed for non-compliance and severe penalties for using any non approved power enhancing fuels or additives.

Where did you find the 2008 LRRS rule book? The lrrsracing.com site is in bad need of updates and is full of dead links. They don't seem to have the new rule book posted.

Re: VP Fuel

Hrmmm.... 93 octane pump gas only... I'd much rather run low test in the GS, it doesn't have the compression to make 93 work worth a damn. Wonder if we could get a PTwins exclusion? (Doubt it.)

Re: VP Fuel

For the 3 gallons (if that) you use every weekend, I doubt the extra buck on gas will kill you.
Its actually saving the PTwins money NOT having a spec fuel this year since the VP cost more and there was no contingency for PTwins.

Re: VP Fuel

They actually DID test in Novice last year a couple times. (I dunno bout PTwins) but I know Dan was tested at least twice in whatever class he was running. And one fine is gonna cost more than just buying the gas they want you to all year, so why not.

The cost difference between low test and 93 octane doesn't bother me. I just don't like running high octane fuel in a motor that doesn't have enough compression to use it. On my smaller engines, running 93 octane results in them never coming up to proper operating temp and noticably lower output/snap on the track.

How do the EX's behave on high test? (I've only run low test in the GS, so I can't confirm if it'll complain or not yet.)

Re: VP Fuel

Well I have nothing to compare it to, and dunno what the guys will be running this year something to ask over on the EX-Near list maybe. But last year it was mute since everyone was running VP.

Does anyone know how much the C-12 or SB 100 will cost per gallon?
