From BJ Worsham Re: FUEL AT LRRS!!!

Passing along the word.

Quote:
I just got the word ...

Eric Wood had a meeting with the new track manager and they are OK with the plan that we (LRRS) came up with during our annual meeting in February.

Some of you have seen these links before, but the new rule book is posted at http://www.lrrsracing.com/2008/2008_RULES_2.pdf, and at http://raceloudon.com/rules/2008%20R...wo%20cover.pdf. (Where it resolves right to the new rules about fuel.)

I don't have more info about the "program approved race gas" other than what has previously been discussed here, announced at the Banquet, and listed in the above rules. In a nutshell though, there'll be two grades of VP -- one for guys/gals that need something just a bit better than pump 93, and another suitable for high compression "superbike-spec" motors -- with contingencies available for many classes.

As as been hinted at all along, for pump 93 (that most of us will be running) the designated gas station will be the local Shell station. (Just at the south corner of the track's property, on Rt 106.)

These fuel rules are effective *now.*

See you all in a few weeks,

B.J. Worsham

Re: From BJ Worsham Re: FUEL AT LRRS!!!

So that one Shell station is the only place in the entire state of NH where I can get my LRRS-sanctioned 93 octane?

I can't wait to hear what's so different or special about it where I can't get something local to me before heading up to the track...

its so they can test for it....theoretically the same gas station will always have the same gas (additives and whatnot)....they just want to make sure people aren't adding toxic stuff or using the ridiculous high grade VP fuels.

Don't like the rules? The solution is simple.... Don't race.

People bitched about the cost & health hazzards of race fuel... So they banned it....

The only way to enforce it is to have spec fuel rules....

They give the people spec fuel rules & they bitch about it....

They come up with a cheaper alternative.

They tell people to buy their gas at the Shell station, which practically EVERYONE DOES, ANYWAY

.... and people STILL BITCH!!!

JUST FEKKIN RACE!!! If you do'nt like the rules, go somewhere else or come up with a better idea.

some of it is seriously nasty shit, I've never used it personally but I've heard of some guys draining their gas tanks over night and stuff so it wouldn't eat their fuel lines....never mind environmental/health hazards

Oreo

Doood, chill man.

I'm not bitching, just asking a question...sheesh!

Just saying, what's Shell's 93 in Loudon going to offer over Shell in, say, Londonderry or Nashua or.......

I know I'm fairly new at all this, but it seems to me the easiest solution would be to do random fuel testing with LRRS racers and mandatory testing for, say, the top 5 finishers.

So are we going to expect the price of 93 at the Shell in Loudon to be $3 more than everwhere else?

see.... i haven't had a bike long enough to attempt that... but in my mustang 120 was fun... car turned into an animal, oh and smelled pretty too (cotton candy burnouts?) but never heard of it eating fuel lines, just dont get it on yourself or clothes... but are bike fuel lines the same as auto? (yeah, clueless still here)

Sorry bergs, I know it came off as such but I didn't mean to bite your head off, bro...

I'm just so friggin tired of all the complaining that I hear up at the track. It seems like EVERYONE cries about one thing or another but practically NO ONE steps forward when they ask for Rider Representative volunteers except for the likes of Mike Martire, BJ Worsham, Peter Kates, etc.

People who could afford to or could almost afford to use race fuel.

We wouldn't know them, we only race EX500's.

And we're not experts.

I'm just wondering because with all the bitching on NEAR and other message boards, I never heard anyone bitching about the price/hazard of race fuel before the spec fuel rules were put into place.

I heard a lot of people bitching about other things. Like the lack of an online registration process. But never the price/hazard of race fuel.

Just makes you wonder what determines the issues that are addressed. Well, no, I realize it doesn't make *you* wonder. But it makes *me* wonder.

Re: From BJ Worsham Re: FUEL AT LRRS!!!

I pay race fees to race too...but we're not racing yet, and wondering's always free.

Bergs, you should take this thread as a warning about how things are done around here. You will find yourself often wondering why things are done how they're done, or why things that you think should be done aren't done. Maybe you'll hear others complain about certain things that aren't done or are done.

Put those things out of your mind. You are a novice, or even if you're not, you're not one of the people that determines how things are done. We don't know who those people are, but they're the "silent majority" that have and always will determine what does and does not get addressed. We're pretty sure they're experts. Or something. Experts are important to loudon, as we're told, but we're not really sure what the experts think or how they come about those decisions because they won't talk to people who aren't in the smoke filled rooms.

If you can deal with that, racing's fun. But don't expect "club racing" to mean that you're in the club. There's a club, we think, somewhere, but they aren't us and they don't answer to us. Maybe someday if you're good enough and you pay enough money you'll be invited to join the club. But I'm not even sure who they are, or if they're accepting new members. Just pay your race fees and keep your nose clean, it'll be better for everyone that way.

Re: From BJ Worsham Re: FUEL AT LRRS!!!

Honk,

I've been lurking on this thread for almost 3hrs since my last post and all of a sudden you come up with some random post like this? Okay then... Not sure if this is advice or ridicule....seems a little of both, IMO.

I realize I'm no one in the grand scheme of things. I posted a question merely out of curiosity, not to bitch or raise issue or anything else other than to *hopefully* have a few questions answered as to "why" the Shell station in Loudon is the best fuel ever.

Alls I'm trying to do is to get this all figured out and gain as much understanding as possible in the shortest amount of time possible.

Thank you for your...err....."advice"....I guess I'll have to learn to swallow.

Re: From BJ Worsham Re: FUEL AT LRRS!!!

I'm not trying to ridicule you at all. Just, thing are done the way they are done and asking about them isn't the way they're done. We have rider representatives that are elected by the people to serve the people, ok, maybe they're not elected *by* the people but they are people and they're selected by *some* people to serve the people, well, to serve *some* people, and why are you asking questions anyway?

Point taken.

I see what you're gettin' at--> Like it or leave it (like Pete pretty much already said)

Well, at least I know what to expect...

No thinking allowed.

Re: From BJ Worsham Re: FUEL AT LRRS!!!

Honkyfibber speaks the truth.

The best thing to do is fall in line, keep your nose clean and enjoy your racing. End of story.

And, does anyone here REALLY think that there will be fuel testing equipment at LRRS capable of analyzing samples? Maybe there will, but I really don't think so. They will certainly have no way of knowing whether someone bought standard fuel at the local Shell or not. Maybe they will ask for a receipt as proof?

Best thing to do is buy your fuel at the local Shell and play fair.

FWIW I used to run MRX-01 in my F4i (built motor) at $25 a gallon. Dyno proven against 93 to add 5HP on my bike (and when you're running a shade above 100hp, 5hp is a good gain. The downside is you have to fog the motor after running it and you cannot leave it in the bike more than overnight. It doesn't last very long, either. I think you have to use race fuel within a month or so or it goes bad, at least that's what what I understand.
