IT LIVES!!!! My 800ssie Racebike!

So most of you know I had the 1992 795 motor with FCR's and head work and Carillos, that was built by BCM... Scottie Ducati's old bike...

The thing had 3 season on it and needed a rebuild. I tore it apart and it looked OK but I figured to be safe I would get it rebuilt.

I found out that was alot of money!

To the rescue comes RYAN HOBBS who finds me an 800ssie (Fuel injected) motor to swap for a spare 750 motor I had bought off of him last fall.

Here was my dilemia. Carbs or FI?

If I was to go Carbed it would need some fabricating, a new flywheel and drill a hole for the pickup... needless to say I wanted Bruce to do it. $$$

If I was to go FI then I needed to find a Key, ECU and other electronic crap that matched so it would work. $$$$$$$$$$ ( I HATE electronics)

Hobbs had been trying to find a match set in the plethora of parts he has at the Taj Ma Hobbs with out luck.

Today was the last day... Long story short and after MUCH head scratching and cussing Hobbs figured it out and...

IT LIVES!!!! :ba nanna:

I have a 1999 DUCATI custom frame with a 2005 800ss motor!

Still have some buttoning up to do this week but I should be good to go for the trackday next monday!!!

Thanks Ryan! I owe you!

I am SOOOO Happy!!!!

Nice Doc! Good to hear you got it together and running. The 800 is a definite improvement over the old 750 motors. Stock it should be on par with the 795 built (and fresh).

Now forget about that track day and get up for the first race weekend!

Got the MSF rider coach thing going on the first weekend.

As for the 800 motor I just hope the mapping is ok with me running pods and a full system. :?: I won't be able to get the ECU "flashed" for awhile.

It'll run, bit on the lean side, and your midrange will be very flat. Unfortunately even with a remap you'll have a hard time getting the midrange to match a proper airbox fed setup.

What do you reccomend? slap an airbox in there?

Yeah, if you can make some sort of enclosure, even if it goes around the pod filters, you'll be able to 'link' the breathing of both cylinders, which will help with the midrange. Ideal would ben something with the same volume as the stock 800ss's airbox.
