Re: Safty Wire

Thanks for the offer. I need to do 2 bikes, and a third down the road, so I figure Ill just get a roll. I want to do some work on them at the track since its the only time I seem to have to work on them. Unfortunately there will be no racing for me this weekend

If you get stuck you could swing by tonight and borrow a can from one of us.

Are you practicing?

Cripes, you and Dan are leaving it up to Wookie and me to carry garage #whatever garage number we're in the torch.
Oh and of course our temporary guest, but he doesnt count, hes like a spy

But like I say I think I have 2 rolls of different thickness flying around, so if you need any and cant get your hands on some Ill have it up at the track.

We've got a 1lb can of .032 safety wire in stock. If you're going to be at the track on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday I can deliver it for you.

Speaking of safety wire...what do you guys use for drill bits? I find that the cobalt ones I've used work for a minute or so then stop doing much of anything. Is there a brand that holds up better than others?

Re: Safty Wire

My friend advised I thouch the face of any bolt/hardware I am going to drill with a file or grinder first, removing the hardened surface so the drill doesn't have to go through it before getting to the easier drilling material underneath.

Re: Safty Wire

Another trick I learned, and Im not sure how to explain it well, is try to have the bit the shortest you can so it doesnt start wobbling and flexing as much, like have the drill end RIGHT up to the cutting part of the bit. Its still long enough to get through, but you dont have a lot of excess to get it flexing.
