GS Gestapo has landed

Just got in to Concord, will be at the track in the morning for Penguin. This is the start of 4 days of madness, wish me luck!

Re: GS Gestapo has landed

Made it through Penguin in one piece... GS only had a couple 'sample issues' as Consumer Reports likes to call them.

1) Flat spot at 6k RPM, bike stumbles to 6800 RPM, then pulls like a rocket (ha ha), pulls clean up to 6k RPM. Betting needle position will be the culprit?

2) Either the clutch pushrod seal or shift shaft seal is bad... RTV applied liberally to both solved that issue for now.

3) Pingle petcock sometimes refuses to flow... worked great till my last practice, bit me in T3, then again in T1 after I got it fired and came around for a second lap. Not sure what it's major malfunction is, it's not venting as I can observe it not flowing even with the cap off. (And for the record, the Vortex fuel cap bases at Street and Comp do have vents just like my Slingshot unit...)

I was sick to my stomach that I could get it together in time, Ryan was helping my buddy Evan with the front end but the sub frame was broke in a couple of places, Ev wanted to nut and bolt it together and Ryan lost interest (me too)- surely he didn't want to be involved in my next crash when the seat ate the rear tire. evan's solution was to "just keep your ass off the seat for 3 laps". assuming I could sneak by without going thru tech. Replaced broken clutch and brake levers and brake fluid rez was gone but Brembo MC was leaking so that put an end to that.
Big toe, thumb and lower back hurt but nothing that'll last. i thought I was doing really weel with each lap until the shit hit the fan.

anyone know if I can keep the numbers I got for next rookie race?

Good meeting you as well. When I saw you on the track you looked good. As far as your number, yeah, I think it's yours for the year.

not to thread jack, but yea i had really high hopes of getting you back out there (esp after we realized that your forks were still straight and were just twisted in the triples). Once we saw the subframe, there really wasn't much to be done to get you back out there safely. Evans solution was creative, thats for sure haha....but the way I look at things is why go out on a race track on a bike that you wouldn't feel safe riding on the street y'know? If anything it should be the other way around.

and Kurlon is correct, thats your number for the year....hope to see you at the next race

9th out of 13 in NV LW-SPM, 1:40 in practice, not a bad start.

Looks like one of the other new EX Mafia members (#357) did pretty well Sunday, his friend riding McBiggity's old bike is listed as a DNF, anyone know what happened to him?

Re: GS Gestapo has landed

Biggity's old bike was ridden by an Expert. I talked to him for a while. The carbs are gummed up. He'll be taking it apart and should be ready for next race weekend.
