Re: Gman

Very Nasty He is Hurt Bad, But it is my understanding that he will be ok In the long Run. He hit a Downed bike on the front straight.

Has some Neck damage (vertibrae) and A wrecked shoulder.

say a little racers prayer for him

Re: Gman

Sure sounded nasty. There's some updates on his condition on the NEAR list. I think Peter Kates knows some details too. I saw his bike in Peter's trailer at the end of the day.

I've met him a couple times in our garage when he came to chat with Bruce and Mike Dube, nice guy and smokin' fast. I'm sure he doesn't remember me, but my thoughts are with him and his family.

Heal quickly Gerard, and hope to see you soon .

I hope to high hell Christina's NOT staying in a hotel up (here). Does anyone know how to get in touch with her? We'd like to offer her more comfortable accommodations while she awaits his release...

Re: Gman

Christina is staying with Gman in the hospital room (Concord) for the most part. I asked her to stay at my house, but she'd rather be near Gerard. I had Lil'G and Christopher with me Sat night and they are with Gerard's mom in RI now.
I saw Gerard last night for a bit. (Kip was there also) He was in really good spirits considering the pain he was in. He said the worse pain was the broken collerbone. He was getting a good workout with his thumb, pushing the morphine injector button.
The list of injuries is pretty long.
He's one of the nicest guys at the track, and I know a lot of people are helping out in any way they can.

Thanks for updating us, Gordon. I'm glad she had options other than the hospital room or a hotel. Glad to hear he's feeling (relatively) okay...

some ugly details from NEAR:

Todd, Gman had a hell of a wreck, this is what I have been told by a
few people.

Coming out of twelve, Gman and Miles were going strong and were
rounding a slow rider that was getting lapped. Miles was able to pass
this rider but as he did so the rider (I do not know how it is/was)
fixated on miles and came in behind him and in doing so hit his front
wheel on Miles' Rear, causing said rider to crash in the race line.

Gerard being just behind Miles was then forced to run square into the
bike that just crashed in front of him. Peter also mentioned that
another rider then hit one of the two downed bikes, probably during
Gman's Superman test flight.

Talking with Kip and Peter, sounds like Gman then flew about 15 feet
in the air according to a girl on the front that saw it, landing up
high in the fence at the top of the line out of twelve on the front
straight. Kips tells me the landing from up that high did most of the
damage. So far he has a broken shoulder, humerus, all six ribs on one
side, shattered two neck vertebra. He was in the ICU on Sat night
getting the remains of the vertebra removed to get the pressure off
his spine. Last I heard, he is awake, able to move everything but his
left hand. Ironically the two things that are the most troubling to
Gman's body were left untouched, His Legs and his head. A good shot to
his head could have done him some good but we all get to see his
shining personality unchanged in the near future.

We all know Gerard, I am sure he is flipping out being stuck in a bed,
all ADD'd out, wanting to go do something. He will be recovering from
some time from this one and I am sure we will all do what we can from
he, his wife, little G and Chris.

We will get his ass back out there soon and I look forward to it.

I don't know anything about the other riders, I hope they are well.

Re: Gman

My thoughts and prayers are with Gerrard and his family and to a speedy recovery. It was very tough to hear in the rider's meeting sunday morning how bad he got it. The good news is that they believe he will fully recover, although it will be a very long rehab.

Re: Gman

Gerard...I havent met you but I hope for the very best. A brother in NESR, on the track and lover of motorcycles is all I need to know.

Medical Science is awesome today. Don't be intimidated and ask lots of questions. If you aren't sure you understand or like the answer ask again!

Heal up bro...and know that all of us are standing by to help anyway we can...you need only ask.

Re: Gman

A small hand full of NESRians visited him last night in the hospital... I almost joined em along with just about every member of the Tony's Track Day Staff, but being in the ICU they only allowed 2 visitors in at a time so we decided against it, we didn't wanna wear him out.

Word is he's doing much better than the other night. Hopefully Jim or PK will chime in with an update as they were two of the few who did see him last night.

Re: Gman

Saw him last night around 6:00pm with PK, Jay H, Kate (RD Chick) & Jim F. Gerard was in great spirits. He was moving his legs wiggling his toes, joking around and already thinking about his camping trip with his family. It sounds like he may be transported to Providence shortly. He has to get the approval from a dozen of doctors or so. Seem like he will have a full recovery. Just needs time. Heal up quick man.

I wish he was around for ULSB. I would have liked to have been on his six during the race. That win was for you Bud.

Re: Gman

Sorry to hear about Gman... I was in line for TTD on monday and people were saying how some guy wrecked hard... no one knew who.

The Union said it was "some guy named Gerard" and my heart sank.

I have only net him once and "talked" to him via PM but he has been a great help with Ducati stuff and I hope he heals up quick!

Good luck man and do what the nurses say!

Two words...

SPONGE BATH!!

Whoever wrote the above (Dan Benson I guess) is an idiot.

How can a slower rider, being passed by a faster rider "fixate' on the faster rider and hit his rear wheel. I know the rider who's bike Gerard hit and he's pretty cut up about it. It doesn't need to be made worse by stupid statements like that. The faster rider (Miles I guess) is to blame if anyone. He is the passer and it's HIS responsiblity to get around the slower rider in front. Hey, ya put amateur ex500s in the same race as Expert Duc 800s, whaddya expect?

My thoughts are with Gerard, Christina and the kids. Here's a blast from the past.
