Rookie Weekend...Sexy Time

Fri:
Show up early to get my tire remounted. Thanks to Miles at S&C for the prompt service. Get out of penguin classroom time and hit the track. First time out since last year, and definitely feeling rusty. Stop after a few laps to watch the advanced class in Nascar 1, then get on the bike for our session and the bike is dead. SHIT! Bumped it down the bank, and Im off, still really rusty. The electrical continues to be dead for another session, and suddenly comes back and works for the entire weekend. Get to our open sessions and start to pick up the pace. Still not feeling it at all. Just took it easy and tried to feel out the traclk for the rest of the day.

Sat
Forst race practice, feeling a little nervous, but better than fri. Get out and start pushing a lot harder. Feels good, feels fast...until I look at my times. The cosmos are still right, I am not fast. 40, 38, 37...YUCK. Second practice, time to push harder, get 35's, and I just cant see how the hell to go any faster. But Im on a 600, obviously I can. The only saving grace, atleast Im getting fatser every lap.
Race 7: Green flag, go, wheelie, shit! drop it down, pop it again! WTF!. Now Im on 10th coming into 1. Get settled in by 2 and see a bike entering 3 as I get out of 2. Ok go catch him. By lap 2 Im on him, got to find a way around. Follow him for 1.5 laps trying to find a way around, pushing harder and harder every time. Lap 4, I feel much stronger than him coming into the bowl every time, Im taking it. Wheel over the hill, coming hard Take an outside line, just before the apex, Im almost side by side with him, and then my rear slides out. I come off the bike, sliding on my knee, and just hanging on the handle bars. Suddenly, the bike hooked back up...what?! Somehow get back on, into the grass, and Im back on. Now he is gone, tried to chase, but no chance. Apparently I entered the track bad after the incident, sorry to the poeple coming behind...I was a little confused at that point and I entered the track all fucked up. Come find me Ill buy you a beer The rest of the race, I just felt out of it. Looked at my times, still consistently getting better every lap, and my best time was a 29 Stiil very slow, but much faster than I expected after practice times, and I now have some ideas where to lose more.

I was scheduled for race 11, but just wasn't feeling it.

What I learned:

1 the true difference between a track day and a race
2 What it means to really start to push yourself on a bike
3 I am out of shape, and I desperately need to do some cardio
4 Damnit this racing shit is fun!

Thanks to everyone in Zip Tie Alley, and CCS, I mean CGS Racing for all the tips tricks help and bike humping (DB) See you all in 3 weeks!

Awesome Jeff! Wish I was skilled enough to be racing like you guys. What's your race schedule look like for this year?

Thanks bud, but we will reserve the word "great" for a skilled maneuver, not luck
