race weekend 2 - denno - cgs racing

triumph for all 6 races this weekend - fixed/ cleaned steering head bearings that i had damaged in jennings back in january -explains why the bike wouldnt turn and felt like the damper was set to 11 at VIR and race weekend 1

fri practice - got a spare set of rims and new set of iron braketech rotors/ ferodo pads to bed in

missed first practice getting tires mounted - where's sto?!?!?

next 2 practices spent bedding in brakes at about 70% speed -grrrr!

last practice session i start to get goin and now i have this jackhammering effect coming up through the handlebars - i mean the whole bike is skipping like a stone under heavy braking - scary as all hell

sat- practice spent trying to figure out what is wrong -chased all the wrong problems except the obvious (warped rotors from the factory) - checked steering head bearings we had just fixed then checked to make sure rotors were on tight and axel in properly, etc, etc

fuck! still doing it badly and i will have to race like this

race3 - mw sb - 9th place -trying to not bin it coming into 1, 3 and 6 1:28's! a huge step back!
race7 - hw ss - 4th place - somehow got some 24's ??? wtf
race11 - mw ss - 6th place

sunday - need to put new tires on before gtu so i get my old rims with stock rotors mounted with fresh rubba - 1st practice - no more jackhammering/ vibrations - gone all gone... fuckin rotors

practice 2 - put new rotors on to confirm it is not the new rims and sure enough, - the problem is back

race 1 -gtu - wookie and i both think we are in the 2nd wave and are left on the line discussing our favorite books while everyone else is in turn 2! fuck!
let's just say i was a bit displeased with my dumb rookie move... i weave thru a bunch of traffic and finish 3rd out of 11th - man i wish i had got a good start...
race 5- mwgp 5th place
race 11 - hwsb - 6th place so tired, nothing left - i have to cut back to 4 or 5 races

1:24.665 best time, need to get a lot faster as moving up to AM means I am going to be the back marker - also need to work on he front end of the trumpet, having some big troubles at the bumps through 3 and 10

yellow plates next weekend - bumpity bump

Nice job Denno.

BTW - if you and a couple of the faster guys bump to Am the grids in NV middle weight and heavy weight are going to be pretty thin.

welcome to AM man

like people said, now the fun begins

Keep riding your ride and you'll do fine ... be careful of 115 and 898 ... they don't have much regard for safe passes, so just be on your toes.

+1...Congrats, Denno. I'm glad that I've been able to suck away all of the bad karma for you the last two weekends. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be back to crash for you any time soon...so, you're on your own...Kick ass, man!!!

Tune for the bump in 10. T3 is not really bumpy once you can relax your arms.

What's the bike doing in T10. Better yet, what are you doing starting back at the entrance of nine - step-by-step?

Re: race weekend 2 - denno - cgs racing

Denno,

Question about your Braketechs being warped from the factory. What exactly are they doing? I bought a set of Braketechs for my street bike and they seem to work fine when braking from higher speeds but if I am rolling relatively slowly and apply the brakes I get the warped rotor feeling through the brakes. It kind of pisses me off that I spent the kind of money I did for the Braketechs and have to deal with this but I haven't really ridden the bike much so I havent been able to narrow it down and prove that it is the rotors.

Joel

first, congrats on bumping!!

second, 2 practices bedding in brakes?? is there a detail you left out? maybe they're fancier than the ones on my 20yr old hawk, but I've always bedded mine in by riding around the pits (slowly) for about 5 min. you can feel as soon as they're 'in'. then i go out and practice like i always practice. seems like you're unnecessarily losing valuable practice time to me

Good luck with the bump... looks like you have your work cut out for you. Triumph 675's seem to have notoriously bad front end feel, so hopefully you can get that sorted somewhat.

Correct, they really should have been bedded in around the pits. We will be roughing them up and re-breaking them in.
