Dash for crash? OUCH!

Anyone see the crash I was involved with in turn 9 of the dash? Just wondering how it looked. Maybe pics? I hit the downed #53 bike in the middle of the track, went airborne and crashed down on my heels and tailbone. Apparently this compressed my spine and caused hairline fractures in both my ankles, no wonder walking is so much of a chore.

It was quite fun before the incident, it's the first time I've really battled anyone on the 600. Hopefully I'll get the bike fixed up in time for the classic!

Sounds like he could use a couple ankles.....

Good to see you attempting to walk on Sunday. Heal up quick - we're back next week!

Ouch. No, really, OUCH! Now I'm really surprised that you were up and walking Sunday. I'll pass on what everyone's been telling me, don't rush things. Give yourself time to heal right so you don't go out too soon and just make things worse.

Oh, and milk the sympathy for all it's worth with you significant other. With those injuries I'm sure standing in the shower is right out... time to have her bust out a sponge and nurses outfit.

Re: Dash for crash? OUCH!

No pics but I had the best view of anyone, other than the other rider we had picked up 2 minutes earlier in 9. I was about 75ft from your crash man, you were in pretty rough shape when I got out to you but glad things got better than they could have. By the time we were loading you on the stretcher things had already seemed like they were calming down for you.

Heal quick bud and you had about 8-10ft of air between you and the ground when you were laid out flat after going over the bars.

i am so glad it wasn't worse than it is. take time to heal those heels, and let your spine straighten itself all out. Don't go rushing into things. Back injuries only get aggravated....

I think Norm was more worried that Chris was ok by the look on his face when he came in the infirmary...

Glad you are 'okay' Chris. Saw you crashed out of that race (reading results last night) and was wondering what happened.

Oh yes. It was fun. Yeah Doc, the xrayed and cat scanned the hell out of me last night. They say my "mountain biking crash" was a pretty bad one. I'm really feeling alot better today, got the back end of the bike sorted out, now just gotta work on a front end.

KITT!!!! I'm in need of forks, a wheel, rotors, a fender and MAYBE triples, but I don't think so. And the left rear swingarm spool broke off. I suck at tig welding..........

Chris... I have forks I was saving, but if you can't find any, they are yours... or you can borrow them. I have triples and stem, one good front and rear rotor, and my race bike and both spare swingarms are all missing left spool mount. If you want, I can bring them to my shop and get custom mounts welded on... and you can trade yours for mine, OR we can tap some 8M threads right in the swingarm (this is what I did saturday after crashign in the rain).

let me know, PM me if you want my #.... but im not giving you parts until I see a DR's note

Hahaha! I have the note, but I'm not gonna use it until I'm POSITIVE I can't source any. I'd hate to swipe your spares and have you need them. I'll know in a few days. Thanks!!

Hey bro! Glad to see a smile on your face when you came ridin back on the golf cart! Take PLENTY of time healing up... Riding in the classic isn't worth back/heel pain for the rest of your life. Sitting out the classic last year was tough for me, but it was by far the right choice.

And remember... It's not the flight that kills ya, it's the hard landing Next time aim for a pile of pillows

Thanks guys. Norm re-hurt his shoulder, he says he's done racing. I think I convinced him just to sit out until he's positive he's healed.

Really glad you are going to be okay. We were all worried in the pits but after we found out you were okay, we couldn't help but tease you a little bit.

All I can say is at least you didn't crash in your rookie race
