but....we get to race. i kinda like that part. There is a lot of effort and expenses that go in to putting on an LRRS event I'm sure...the fact that the show goes on is enough to make it worth the $$ for most. Sure I dont really agree that racers have to pay the same as spectators to get into the infield...but the money does have to come from somewhere. Since there isn't a following for LRRS spectators, we have to foot the bill if we want to race.

That said, maybe efforts towards drawing in more spectators would be beneficial to us in that way, down the road....who knows?

Umm, how about a huge ass sign that's so bright it can be seen from space? It's the 9th man made wonder of the world, and I'm personally honored that my race fees helped pay for it. You don't put a price on that shit. It's like helping to contribute to the moon landing, only far more awesome

Re: Advertising the races...

Doc, just an idea (might have been covered) but why dont you design a flier on your comp. and make it in PDF format so anyone who wants to download/distribute them can print them out on their own computers. Would be cheaper (cost of 10 sheets of paper each) and get a wider span of people. I dont race and in fact am doing my first track day this year, but oreo has gotten me more and more interested in the track and I think there are more people on bikes this summer than have been seen in the past. Time to reach out to the new crowd? could be. Great idea, and if you decide to go through I would print some out myself to distribute.

Re: Advertising the races...

i can put them up all over Laconia. Plus my family owns an ice cream/coffee bar there and just last year got a liquor license. Its right at the channel end of Paugus bay for those who know the area (its prime) I can put fliers up there for ya Doc. Just send 'em to me or i can give you my fax number

I don't have anything to make a PDF, but here's a 2 minute job powerpoint slide to get the ball rolling.

Feel free to edit & re-post.

I made a quick 20x16" PDF from Pete's powerpoint. Scale and print as necessary:

Re: Advertising the races...

Ryan hit on my idea as to why. I think it would benefit the racers, maybe take some of the financial burden off us if we had a bunch of spectators.

Plus it would stroke our egos... that would be good for Darrell as he would have another area to win the acclaim of man other than his bright wit and humor (unclefucker is funny).

Pete's design is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I might just add an enticeing tag line or some other thing to add a lil excitement.

I say print those up and start posting em!!

How about: We put the loud in Loudon!

OR

Cheaper than Nascar, and our fans don't smell.

Re: Advertising the races...

A customer of our's seems convinced that AMA racing will return to Loudon next year. I don't quite see that happening, and I don't know where he got that information. There was an interview a while back that questioned AMA's return, but nothing solid. It could be possible and the upgrades could be done in the off season.

Re: Advertising the races...

Assuming people already know and just dont care is really the wrong attitude IMO. I only mentioned it to a few people I didnt know, and they were more than interested in checking it out. Actually, I know a bunch of nascar people who go to a lot of races who didnt even realize the road coarse existed! Are you sure everyone knows what we do? For a lot of people who ride motorcycles, and for people who don't, racing bikes on the track is an impressive thing. I think there are a lot of people out there who would enjoy watching the races. Really, could most people tell if the person behind the helmet was an AMA racer or a fast club racer? I doubt it. Its just exciting to watch for anyone who likes racing, and if Nascar is any indication of how many people enjoy racing...well (not saying we are going to get a nascar crowd, dont get me wrong)

Bottom line: if all us lrrs folks puts some effort in we dont lose a lot if it doesnt work, but we dont gain anything if we dont try. It has potential, so lets give it a try!
