Agreed. IF they do rebuild i just hope they make as near an exact copy as they can but without the walls and more run off. It could be done.

Well in that case, maybe we'll ACTUALLY get to see some 3-4 way battles for the lead!

Ferchristsakes I hope not. Current track is a mini-bike course man. You gotta run a track where you rip 120+ thru a set of turns without thinking about hitting the brakes.

And the walls do exist whether you hit them or not. Also how many red flags have we had because bikes pile off the T2 wall and spin back into the track (I even caused one during the Classic 2006). Pretty much every crash / red flag this weekend in T2 would have been a non-issue with proper run-off.

I love Loudon and I'm proud to have learned to race here, but, it needs to be retired. I'd love to race a 600 (especially after spending the last year ripping 1098/1098R/848) but no way Jose will I race one at the current Loudon. Stick with my slotard.

About the only things I would like to see duplicated on the new track are:

Elevation Changes - you hear about some tracks that are so flat that it's tough to even pick out the corners and apexes.

Short straights - I prefer non-horsepower tracks... and lots of braking zones.

Superbikeplanet.com has another, more realistic, article up:

Soup :: Loudon Long Shot :: 06-16-2008

With some pictures too:

Soup :: Loudon: 1980

This sounds more realistic... and better in my opinion.

If the AMA demands a new track... not just bandaids... that will help us get one. Along with the extra seats that Nascar could use on the back stretch.

This is exciting... hope it all comes together where we have both NJ and NH as two real nice road courses.

(I wish the NJ track was in NORTH JERSEY, but oh well... )

I did hear that there is a road course going in out back and they were going to increase the bankings on the oval,one can only hope.

So extend some of the straights or make 1-1a-2, 7-8 and 9-10 longer with more runoff for your high speed sweepers.
Like Tony says keep the elevation changes and some of the short straights and tight turns (3, 6, 11a-12) just keep the layout close and remain true to the heritage of the "tight, technical".

Build it and they will come.
