I thought the instructions that came with my caliper says the buttons need to be replaced when they are too tight and cant be turned by hand?
And I cant see how you could wire those pads, dont they need to move with the pistons?

I was talking to Hobbs and he said even I should wire my pins. Gonna work on that this week.

I was hoping there would be room to put a small loop of safety wire between a tab and the caliper body such that the pad could move but not pull out past the recess in the caliper body. I don't see a sane way to do it.

And you're right on the buttons, if they get too tight, they need to be replaced. The also should be swapped if they get too loose as well, especially as we're mating them with floating calipers.

Doc: There aren't removable pins on our calipers to safety wire.

I'll bring a caliper with me for you to poke at next race weekend. These cheesy two pot floating calipers don't have removable pins for the pads.

I had to order another to replace the one on my bike, so I hafta pull one off anyway, Im going to poke around. But the general consensus on the NEAR EX list is that one of my clips wasnt on right, and I probably put them in wrong. So oh well, what can ya do.

I might even try that next weekend. In hindsight it would've been pretty good advice.

If it is any consolation... I sat there for 15 minutes trying to figure out why my front rim wasn't going on right on Saturday night....

Come to find out I had it on backwards.

Re: Fucking Zip Tie Alley

i think i just saw a new recruit for the alley on my way past Walloston Beach. White (CBR???) bike with red slip on and fram sliders. wearing sneakers, shorts with flowers, t-shirt, and german helmet with glasses.

what caught my attention was the zip ties holding up the license plate. and i thought....there it is. F'n Zip Tie Alley

Re: Fucking Zip Tie Alley

Bah, unless the zip ties are also holding the taillight on along with the license plate its not enough for the Alley
